Two months down, nine to go. Crazy how fast these past couple months went by. I really enjoyed Africa, or at least most of Africa. This month we stayed in Senga Bay, Malawi and worked with Zehandi Missions.  Our contact Johann and his wife Marie are amazing people, they invested in our hearts and desired for us to grow spiritually! We stayed on a compound with no electricity or running water, although technically we were in the “bush” it was incredibly beautiful and had the most amazing view of Lake Malawi and the sunsets and stars at night are magnificent. The scenery made the mile walk to and from the water well worth it, or at least in my opinion.

Ministry this month consisted of construction in the mornings. Over the past view weeks we have built a small library for the Bible School, gardened, carried bricks, hauled  40 liters of water from the well, painted, built a roof, mixed cement, and more. Although physically this was tough it was really cool to see the progress we have made.

In the afternoons ministry for me was working on the “Living Ball” soccer program (see Living Ball blog). The tournament went great and it was a blessing being a part it! This month’s ministry was very different from last months. In Zambia everything we did involved working with the people from the villages directly. Although there were many teams this month who evangelized and went to orphanages or clinics my ministry involved working with my squad. At first this was a struggle for me, I love my squad but I viewed ministry as working directly with the people. I learned this month that ministry is focusing on the person in front of you, no matter who it is. It was a great learning experience to be on the administrative side of missions.

These two months have stretched me physically, emotionally, and spiritually! I am thankful for all of the experiences I have had here, Africa will always have a special place in my heart! Tizaonana (goodbye) Africa! Next month I will be in Laiste, Estonia. We will be working with Village of Hope, a rehabilitation center for men struggling with drug and or alcohol abuse.
