Today I experienced the best most unexpected Valentines Day. The men on my squad decided they wanted to serve all 33 women, all day. They walked a mile to and from the water well throughout the day. They prepared and served us breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They sorted the rice for hours. They did all of the cleaning for the day. They completed labor around the compound in the hot sun. They said our only job for the day was to relax, enjoy, and serve one another.

Before dinner the men brought the 2014 Winter Olympics to Africa! It was hilarious! My personal favorite event was the ice skating, the spins were very graceful! After they served us dinner and finished the dishes they told us to close our eyes. When we were allowed to open them we found hand made cards in front of us as well as a tower made of cookies and chocolate. They asked us to close our eyes again, this time when we opened them our eyes were filled with tears of joy. The room was lit by candles. The men gently grabbed our hands and escorted us to buckets. They washed our dirt black feet. While one was washing another laid their hands on our shoulders and prayed for us. Once our feet were clean they used their personal towels to dry them. The room was silent and was glowing as we all watched these incredible men of Christ serve us in a whole new way.

After they finished washing our feet Derek played the guitar while Micah read us a passage from the Bible. They declared they were making a covenant to us to continue to serve, lead, support, and love us for each day to come. The ceremony ended in worship. We all held hands around the candlelight and praised the Lord. Tonight was a beautifully wonderful night! Thank you Jesus for these incredible men and brothers you have blessed me with.
