The World Race is not a vacation.
When I boarded the plane to go to Albania, I knew that I was leaving behind the comforts of home. I knew that there were going to be some tough times. However, I never imagined that my very first ministry location would have been as hard as it was.
For the first two weeks of the race we were stationed at LightForce International in Lezhe, Albania. This organization runs summer camps for the local children in order to teach them valuable life skills and biblical knowledge. I had expected to welcome campers but instead, I welcomed manual labor. It ends up that we were doing maintenance on the farm to get it ready for the campers. Some of our work included: moving rocks, taking down spider webs, shoveling poop, painting and repainting walls, cutting bushes, and much more.
Initially, it was hard to cheerfully shovel pigs’ poop. Honestly, who would like to smile let alone smell pigs’ poop? But the truth is, God has a reason for everything. Think about it. If we never shoveled the pigs’ poop, then the baby pigs could get sick. If the baby pigs got sick, then there would not be food for the campers. If the campers didn’t have food, then camp would not be able to happen. If camp never happened, then the local children wouldn’t be able to hear about the love of Christ.
Sometimes our work may not always make sense right away. It might be physically hard. But, I have faith that God has a reason for everything.
With all of that being said, I would love for you to take a few minutes and watch the video blog below to experience what a typical day of ministry looks like at LightForce International.
