Everyone knows that your relationship with God should be personal but not private. Still, we all need a little biblical encouragement when we step out and share our faith. I pray that this post will give the courage and strength for at least one person to share their faith.
Mark 4: 26-29 “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain – first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel of the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”
As the hands and feet of Christ, we must do our part in expanding God’s kingdom. We must be eager to tell others the Good News of the life free from sin. We must be eager to live lives mimicking Christ. We must strive to gain the fruits of the Spirit. We may not have an easy life. We may not see others commit their lives to Christ. But the beauty of it is that God is working behind the scenes. All we must do is to GO and OBEY what is ASKED of us. We must plant the seed of faith in others’ lives and have faith that God will sprout it when the time is best for the seed to sprout. God will build the foundation for faith in others’ lives but it is our responsibility to supply the materials.
Take heart in knowing that God has already promised you in advance a harvest that is magnificent and plentiful. A harvest giving peace, happiness, and hope. Do not be intimidated of sharing your faith. Your witness may seem weak and your efforts may be small; but, if you plant a seed it gives God the OPPORTUNITY to grow it. More so, the more seeds you plant, the greater the probability for them to be sewn.
However, be wise. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 13 how different conditions can affect how the seed grows.
Matthew 13:3 –8 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop.”
Seeds scattered in rocks and not planted with care are destined to fail. Be gentle when delivering God’s message to others. Be cautious and try to set them up with the best way for their faith to flourish. If it doesn’t grow, don’t be discouraged. It is not time. Perhaps a storm or a cold front is coming that would have uprooted their faith. Only God knows the perfect time for their faith to be strong. The farmer doesn’t know how the seed grows and neither do we know how God is working in others’ lives. God will work and he will harvest a field of fruit. But it is your responsibility to be God’s hands and feet; to help him plant his harvest here on Earth.
Listeners are responsible with what they do with the gospel. You are not to be blamed if the message is rejected; as long as you FAITHFULLY and CLEARLY presented it. We are not responsible when others reject Christ’s message of salvation; but we do have the responsibility to share the gospel in the best manner. There will be times when people reject it but there will also be times when people cling to it. God will provide you with happenstance to meet these people. Remember that the people who reject it may need you to simply plant the seed in their heart that will be harvested later.
I hope you were thinking about someone when reading this blog who would benefit from knowing about Christ. There is no better time than now to plant the seed of salvation in their heart. I pray that God gives you the strength, courage, and wisdom to step out and share your faith.
