26. Herod puts John in prison
– Luke 3:19-20
Luke 3:19-20 “But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and all other evil things he had done, Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.”
John was not afraid to speak out when he discovered evil things. He knew that it was his responsibility to say something. That being said, he never harmed Herodias he only denounced her actions. Still, it was very dangerous for John to rebuke a Roman official. John was not afraid. He knew that in the end God has total sovereignty. He wasn’t afraid when he was put in prison. Don’t be afraid to speak out about something. Do it respectively and gracefully but definitely do not sit back and do nothing. Be comforted with knowing that God is the one ultimately in control.
