Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Luke 6:21 “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.”

Isaiah 61:1-2 “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.”

Psalms 51:15-17 “Oh Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart.”

James 4:9 “Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.”

Ecclesiastes 3:4 “a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.”

2 Corinthians 1:1-2 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

Only God can provide complete joy and happiness. Without him, we are blindly seeking temporary comforts. It is okay to not be okay. The world tells you to always be happy. It teaches us to seek happiness at all costs. But, the world is delusional. There is sin in the world. God knows that this earth will bring you grief. Turn to God in the times of sorrow. God loves a vulnerable heart. He is the ultimate comforter. He promised to never abandon you. Nothing you are struggling with is too big for the creator of the universe. He will take your brokenness and make it beautiful.
