MEET CHOCHI!

Chochi was the first friend I made at Fundación Hogar Los ángeles (Los Angeles Home Foundation). She was so welcoming and patient. Me and Megan volunteered to go work in the kitchen during ministry on the first day. I learned quite a bit of Spanish and also learned what I do not know in Spanish. Being that my name is Daniella it is somewhat assumed that I know the language. This same thing happened at customs the attendant saw my full name (Daniella Maria) and was like. “Tu habla espanol?” And then proceeded to tell me to put my four fingers on the scanner in spanish. I didn’t know what she was saying. Just throwing that out there.

Back to the Chochi.

She told me that she is 31 and that she lives in the village. She works mostly in the kitchen. She does not have her mother and father and she has a sister that lives in Tegucigalpa (Capital of Honduras) and she only sees her for Christmas. She also explained that she only wants to see her then. She also told me her birthday.

Chochi has taught me to be more intentional she is so funny the only names she remembers are Deborah, Jon (Juan), and me. She nicknamed me Danni. Whenever she sees all of us together Megan ask her to say her name and Chochi says “No, no nombre” she only has the three names down. She is so helpful and caring she makes a point to help those around her. I am always happy to see her because of her intentionality. When I think of her I think everyone needs to meet someone like her. I want to share about her because I love how beautiful she is inside and out she taught me that when you are intentional you can learn about someone even if there are barriers. She gave the paper above so that I could remember and say her name correctly.

Chochi and I

The day the above picture was taken was the day of the fiesta at the village. I saw her serve so effortlessly. She made sure we were all included. She introduced us to the family that was throwing the fiesta. She was so happy to take the picture which really touched my heart. I hope to maybe print it out so she can keep it. Chochi definitely has made an impact on me.

So now you have meet Chochi! Isn’t she sweet!

MY next couple of post will be able some of the people in the village that I have come to get to know.

I would like to ask for your support so that I can continue on this journey and share more stories about the people I meet.
