Indonesia our first country in Asia. As a team leader each month we get this thing called a set-up sheet. This “paper” states various things we can potentially expect when we arrive to the ministry site. Well as we are preparing to go to Indonesia I am expecting an email with this “paper” and with a week until we leave I was getting anxious and questioned by my team if I had received it yet. So I broke and asked our squad mentor what was up. I get a message back from Alissa asking if I can talk on the phone for 5 minutes. I race to my room and the call comes through. Alissa states that BGC Powerhouse was the team selected to do Unsung Heroes.

Adventures in Mission explains Unsung Heroes to be this:

Unsung Heroes are men and women who are dedicated to serving some of the most impoverished populations in the world but are most likely unrecognized and unknown.

The vision of the UH Program is to connect and network with Unsung Heroes in an effort to come alongside them and provide lift to their efforts to further the Kingdom. The goal is to allow individuals on the ground to identify persons that are working to further the Kingdom and to assess how we could serve them and the potential for host status. This program is about hearing hearts, documenting visions, and empowering hopes.

We were then given this as how we were to go about doing this.

As your month in Indonesia is doing “UH”, I want you to NOT think about finding ministry partners. Rather, spend time seeking after what I like to call ‘Kingdom movements’. Where is the Lord moving? Who is he using to establish His Kingdom in Indonesia? That’s what I want you to run after. Along the way, I’m confident that you will find yourself serving alongside people in Kingdom movements that you will want to connect me with :)”

Let me just say that is exactly what happened but in ways I would have never expected. While we were on the plane from China to Indonesia I was flipping through some scriptures I had written on index cards and this scripture came up

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32 ESV

Talk about finding comfort in the word.

  1. We were a small flock that was made of six women

  2. It was our father’s good pleasure to give us kingdom.

I told the team the work is already done all we have to do is listen and go. That is exactly what we did.

There journey of going started with us heading to OYO hostel in Tangerang, Indonesia while there we meant this amazing family because of some a hunt for noodles. We pick a random noodle shop and to our surprise in walks in the owner’s daughter Kristen and she speaks English. She tells us that we are the first English speaking people she has met face to face. The bold Missy tells her that we are in Indonesia for a missions trip which we then learn that her family is christian.  Kingdom!

Our time in Tangerang came to an end due to having to stay within budget so we set out to a new location and tell this amazing family goodbye.

Next on the stop is Jakarta to Feliz Noche. I was excited to go here because it was a hostel that had a spanish name and I was so missing my Panamanian family. We get there and this hostel was a dream come true we had our own personal cubbies to sleep in. This hostel was a short stay because there was an unexpected change so we had to move on however before that happened Papa wanted to show us how faithful he is. We ended being able to pay for the hostel under budget and the people who worked at the hostel where CHRISTIAN. I cannot make this stuff up. We got to pray with them and encourage them in there faith.  KINGDOM

To give a little more clarity as to why this was big deal Indonesia is a mostly muslim country and the areas we had been so far were predominantly muslim. We had moved to two places and kingdom was found. Papa wanted to show us that we have brothers and sisters who just want and need to be embraced by their siblings.

On to the next location, Pruitt apartments in Jakarta. Two of my teammates went exploring around the mall that our new home was connected to and low and behold there was a church Mission House on the top floor. Know my mind has truly been blown at this point but that is not even the end. Pastor Matthew was from Indonesia and had leaved in San Francisco, CA for years (don’t remember how long) and God called him back to Indonesia. In that God opened up a door for the church to go from an apartment to the location in the mall. Also prior to meeting my teammates he had meet an amazing man named Victor who helped redo the church logo. Pastor Matthew called all of this divine appointments and that is so true.  KINGDOM

Pastor Matthew asked us to help out with the Good Friday service and he made a flyer to bring more people to it. From that flyer another kingdom movement was made. Pastor Eddy saw the flyer and reached out to Pastor Matthew to get us to come to his church Xtraordinary Place. Interesting fact Pastor Eddy and his wife had met a world race team while working with YWAM in Indonesia. Talk about Kingdom Movements. KINGDOM

Looking back at Indonesia I am in awe honestly. We have a father who finds pleasure in giving us kingdom. He gave us kingdom all we had to do was trust. Trust. I was thriving because I love watching my Papa work! All we have to do is listen and trust. He just tells us to go and yet we hesitant. I can say my faith was stretched but it was because I did not realize how much I trusted him.

KINGDOM is everywhere are we willing to recognize it and move when he asks us to.

The deadline for me to be fully funded has passed. In order for me to remain on the field this goal needs to be met soon.

There is a cost curve that all of the financial deadlines keeps us in currently I am a little head of the cost curve but since the deadline to be fully funded has not been meet I am at risk of being in the red.

Will you consider donating to help me remain on the field?

Please consider donating $100 or however much you feel lead to give.
