As some of you know my team and I decided to journey to the Cameron Highlands, Malaysia, which is said to be a destination for a lot of hiking and for some other fun things like tea plantations too. It is also said to be a place where travelers get to spend time “adventuring into the wilderness in a jungle like atmosphere where there are trees all around the area” and honestly who wouldn’t want to go there? It was going to also be a time where we were going to be staying in a okay, but not great hostel for a couple of days and then maybe move to another or just a time of figuring out what the next step was. However, while we all were thinking this we read online that the best chance at getting a “workaway” was if we just went to the hostel that we wanted and that we would potentially get it. For your information, a “workaway” is an opportunity where people get to go to hostels and decided to volunteer/work at them. As we were looking for it we ended up deciding to check out a hostel called the Traveller Bunker that had some really great ratings. So as we did that, we talked to some of the people there and found out we got allowed to work there, which was very excited. We then got told that we had an option to do different jobs and ended up getting a receptionist job, which I was unsure about. However, I’ll  show you the different types of things I do in the job and also mention how I got to help fellow travelers and other people as well and eventually mention how I got to share Jesus while working for that hostel.

I’ll start by mentioning that when we started getting into our roles and the first thought  I found myself doing with the job at first was me saying things like, “God there is no chance that I want to stay here even if it is for free, I just can’t deal with all of the pressure, making coffee, checking people into the hostel and arranging bus tours and sending people to places, that is not my type of job.” However, after I said that I started to meet different really cool travelers and after being there for awhile I started getting familiar with the Cameron Highlands hiking trails and even knew some of the different fun things in the area and in those moments I started thinking to myself, “You know what God, maybe I do like working here, I mean I only have to work for four hours a day and the hostel is really nice, so ll’l continue at it.” I also had a lot of other thoughts during that time like, “I’m actually excited for this type of job because I’ll be able to help travelers and I’ll even be able to learn more skills running a hostel and a lot more information about Cameron Highlands.” I also felt that at times God could even open up some divine encounters for me while I worked in it and that made me excited.

I will now tell you about some of the different encounters I have had and how I had the opportunity to invited them to understand who Jesus is and my beliefs in Him:

I’ll start by mentioning the first few nights  when got to the Traveller Bunker, it was a time when I was just sitting down in the lobby listening to some music when all of a sudden four other people decided to sit at the table I was at too. Since they came together, they were all there to talk to each other about different things since they had just met that night and they lived in different places around the world. After talking for a little bit they happened to notice me and so I decided to talk to them. As I was talking to them for a while, they all told me to join them for dinner at the Chinese food place next door. However, during that time I was unsure if I was supposed to go with them, but I heard God tell me in my spirit to go with them and enjoy the food. So as we were sitting there, I felt like it was fun because we were talking about the different things we like to do and the other fun stuff we like as well like our favorite types of movies and music. Then after we finished dinner we came back into the hostel. As I came back into it, God gave to me a couple of different examples of how I knew God was in my life and how I knew He helped me throughout it. It was during that time, that one of them was actually starting to believe in what I was saying, which to this day I’m really excited about. It also led me to thinking that “I can’t wait until all of them start believing and listening to God because it is going to be amazing.” I also believe that God is going to make the pre-believers into a believers and that through these encounters they will spread the joy that  Jesus brings them. It is going to be great to see the rest of the world falling for Jesus. I’m excited for that time.

However, as I sitting at that table, there was one other guy who was with us who was against everything that I was saying. It was at times that he would get mad that I was just trying to make it so it wasn’t just conversational, but just telling him how I feel and to him I probably wouldn’t stop talking and I was very “annoying” to him. I also could tell that he wasn’t even close to being  interested in hearing about my belief in how I could hear God’s voice because he thought it was “fake” and couldn’t happen. In my opinion he needs to experience Jesus’ intimate love for him and I am believing that the seed of faith that God helped me sow into his life grows even larger than before and that he starts to have encounter with Jesus to another level and that his disbelief in Jesus becomes belief. I also know that God is going to do something great in his life once he encounters Jesus and its exciting to know that God is going to do something great in his life. So here’s to a renewal of Jesus in his life and that someone brings God’s love for him as well.

I also have another example of this, which is another time while I was in the hostel when I felt God gave me got another divine encounter. It was a time when I met girl there who I knew was someone that I could instantly be friend with because from the time when we first met, we were able to talk about anything with each other and it was really awesome. For example, we would talk about hiking the next day. In fact, there was one day when I wasn’t working and me and her had the opportunity to hike a really awesome mountain with some of the other travelers. It was a time where my teammate Jacob led the group and it was cool that I was to do something with all of them because with the job I’m mainly indoors and it provided me the opportunity to tell her about my relationship with Jesus and my beliefs in him. It was a time when I said to God, “God you know I want to tell her about my faith, but how do I do it? Is there anything that I could say to her that wouldn’t make her feel judged?” After along time of waiting to hear back from God, He eventually provided me an opportunity to tell her it all, which felt amazing. It was a time when the whole group was done hiking and we were talking and walking back to the hostel and I was able to share with her about the World Race and everything I have mentioned before this, which was amazing.

I also was able to tell her about why I like a relationship with Jesus way more than any type of religion out there and she was shocked, but I knew God did something during that time. Isn’t God awesome at moving in every situation and isn’t it great that when we just wait on what God tells us, things will turn out well and friendships will be made. He is so good. I hope you now can take these examples and they can help provide you with different ways where you can spread Jesus wherever you are at and whenever God calls you to do that and I encourage you to make these types of connections as well. Stay blessed and peace and love to you.
