Greetings from El Salvador everyone!

My squad has made it down to our third country of our year and my team is currently in the capital city of San Salvador.

My first impression is that this city is much more modern and nicer than the capital cities of the previous countries. As we rolled into town we passed almost any fast food place you could imagine, and there are tons of malls and really nice shopping complexes all over town.

The actual day we arrived was supposed to be a nice simple 4-5 hour bus ride. In typical third world country fashion the bridge to cross was closed for construction, so we had to go an another border crossing a lot further away…then held for about an hour so they can check our bags…eventually arriving in the capital 10 hours after our departure and well after nightfall. So a normal World Race travel day.

This month my team has the privilege of being the ‘Unsung Hero’ team. You are probably wondering what that means, so before you get creative and get images of us singing to people let me clear it up.

Our ministry focus this month is connecting with missionaries and organizations in the country that can become potential partners with the World race in the future. We also want to highlight the work for the Lord they are doing and share with others how they are increasing the kingdom of God.

There is a lot of unknown with this month…but it’s just unknown to us. Thankfully the Lord has already prepared the path before us. We arrived in the country with a hostel booked for 3 nights…and that’s all we had planned.

We don’t have places to stay.

We don’t have any form of personal transportation.

We only have $4 per person per day for food.

We don’t know what even tomorrow will bring.

But we do have the Lord leading us, and that’s always been more than enough for me.

Even in just our first couple days down here we’ve had doors beginning to open. We got in contact with the only English speaking church in the city and connected with an orphanage that is willing to host us on the weekends. We are in touch with local missionaries both in San Salvador, and outside of the city.

Some of my teammates have friends, distant cousins and acquaintances coming out of the woodwork who live in El Salvador. I had a girl I’ve never met before find me on facebook and message me a missionary she’s worked with in El Salvador before, because she randomly came across my blog. The hostel owner has given us names and emails of local organizations she knows about. The stories are endless!

Doors continue to be opened for us, doors we never even knew existed. And although we don’t know where these doors lead we’re going to spend this month boldly walking through them.

So keep Courageous Love in your prayers this month! We will be crisscrossing the country of El Salvador finding and connecting with people on fire for the Lord.

This month will be one big adventure…and although it’s not planned…the way is prepared before us.
