We came sleep deprived and our hearts filled with a nervous excitement. Fresh off the plane, still dragging from a 3 AM wakeup call that morning, we arrived in Honduras ready to begin this journey called the World Race.

Now how do I wrap a month of rural Honduran ministry into 500 words? It can’t be done. But I wanted to try and give some kind of summary for all you incredible supporters back home.

I didn’t get off the plane with plans to change the world or even change a country. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in being world-changers we forget to be something more important…people-impacters.

I have no clue what kind of eternal impact this month will have on the people I met. Some seeds were planted and others were cultivated with encouragement and support. I am in no position to worry about that stuff, what I can do is shine the light of the Lord no matter what the situation.

There was a lot of manual labor done this month. A lot of works with machetes, weed eaters, hoes and rakes. Fields were cleared, ponds were dug, houses were cleaned out and yard work was taken care of.

There was a lot time spent with the kids living here at the children’s home. A LOT. And it was awesome. Living on our ministry sight meant we spent every meal eating like a large family and any downtime was spent watching movies or playing cards together.

If the only thing we did all month was spend time and love on the kids I would consider it a success.

But perhaps one of the most memorable events of the month was the youth event we hosted the last weekend here. The chance to share the gospel with gang members and inner-city kids, to have 10 accept the Lord as their savior, is nothing but the work of the Lord! That is the main reason we’re on this mission trip…to expand the kingdom of God.

So month 1 has come to a close. I can only imagine how quickly the next 10 months are going to fly by, a great reminder to take advantage of every day we are given and every chance we have to be a witness.

I will always have great memories of Honduras. I’m going to miss waking up to have morning devotions with the kids, giving piggy back rides to the little girls and playing soccer with the boys. They’ll always have a special place in my heart and I hope to make it back here in the future.

Below I posted the blog of the family we lived and worked with this month. They are always in need of more support, especially since they have 3 more kids coming their way next month.

I’ll be in Guatemala this whole month of February, updates coming soon about the amazing things the Lord is doing through us! Here is our official team pic of month one!

Miss all you guys back home!
