This world is full of heroes.

Some become famous and inspire generations, while others never receive the recognition their efforts truly deserve.

El Salvador is covered with Christians making an impact on this country, the people and their eternal lives. I want to highlight two of the ministries we’ve come across this month.

ENLACE is the Spanish word for ‘link’. This NGO has the vision of connecting the local churches to their community. They provide training to the leaders of the church and community, who then put into action the dreams and visions they have for the people and city they belong to. The goal is to not simply provide tangible things, but instead empower the churches and walk alongside them as they begin to see what God can provide.

They just celebrated their 25th year in El Salvador and with their commitment to this country I have no doubt they will be here for many more years to come. We were able to sit down and have a meeting with some of their leaders to not only hear about their heart and passion for El Salvador, but discuss how Adventures in Missions can come partner with them in the future.

By 2015 their goal is to help transform over 100 churches, affecting over 250,000 people in El Salvador!

ENLACE follows the kind of commitment that is needed to a country or people….a lifelong commitment! Check out their website for more incredible stories:

La Casa de mi Padre has been committed to the children of El Salvador for over a decade. It started when some individuals who lived in San Salvador for work came across a children’s home that was had over 50 children living in an abandoned building.

Although they didn’t know what the future held, they stepped out in bold faith and started a ministry that would change the lives of kids for many years. Today there are over 35 children in their program. Each child gets an education, a loving home and hears the incredible news of Jesus Christ.

Perhaps the most incredible part of this ministry is the ‘family program’ they have. When they get a child from a tough or broken family situation they begin to not only help the child, but also minister to the family. They help provide some economic chances, such as a chicken for eggs…but they also begin to teach healing and recovery through the gospel. Instead of giving up on parents that have failed they try and teach the power of redemption and grace.

These are just a few of the many heroes we’ve come across this month. People who inspire me with their faith, boldness and dedication to what the Lord has planned for them.

I am sure you know heroes in your life or community. Take the chance to highlight them this week! Even with something as simple as a thank you card.

Have a blessed week!

I have 10 more full days here in El Salvador….I’m going to go make the most of each one! I’m sure I’ll run into a few more heroes along the way!
