Hey everyone!
It is time for a much needed update! I am sorry there hasn’t been a post in a while, but my life has been a whirlwind over the last few months. Let my give a quick refresher:
- After 12 months of teaching English in South Korea I came back to America August 26th.
- I have spent the last month+ traveling around and spending time with as many friends as possible. Kentucky, Tennessee, Colorado, Florida…I’ve been all over!
- I am currently with my parents in Boone, North Carolina gearing up for our World Race training camp that starts in 11 days.
I haven’t really had a chance to breathe since stepping off the plane from Korea, but it’s been incredible getting to spend so much time with people I love and missed dearly when I was abroad. I definitely miss parts of my Korean life (especially my awesome students!) but it feels great to be back in the U.S.A!
As I typed that last sentence I kind of laughed, because although I am back I am starting to mentally transition to the World Race coming up in January. Just in the past week I have started to get some of the equipment and resources that I need for out training camp coming up. What is this training camp you ask? Great question!
Training camp is a 9 day event at a camping area on the Georgia-Tennessee border. All four ‘squads’ that leave in January will be there, so in total over 200 young adults who will be taking off on the four different mission trips. I know the camp is designed to have some challenges that will prep us for our living and eating conditions, but I am really excited to meet all of the people on my squad that I will be sharing this experience with next year.
After the training camp is over we will still have over 2 months in America, which I will use to enjoy as much time with family and friends as possible!
I also have some AWESOME news since my last blog post…and it has to do with my financial support. Today I am nearly half way to being fully funded for my trip! I am continually amazing at how many people want to invest in my trip and be a part of what I am doing, I have raised nearly $8,000 so far!
To those of you who have given support so far, I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. The work to come would not be possible without you, I may be the one physically going but this mission trip will be a journey of many many people.
If you feel called to support me financially at the top of this screen you will see a financial bar, just click on the ‘Support me’ link on the side! No amount is too small.
Although I won’t leave for awhile, prayers are still appreciated for me and my team as we prepare physically and mentally for the incredible journey ahead of us!
It is great to be back in America again with friends and family. If I somehow haven’t gotten in contact with you since I’ve been back and you want to catch up, please just shoot me an email or give me a call!
Now that I’m back people ask me if I’m taking advantage of all the luxuries America has to offer, since I won’t have them next year. I know they mean physical comforts and good food, but my answer of ‘Yes’ usually surprises them. The greatest luxury I have, and the one I miss the most when I’m abroad, is you guys…Friends and Family. There is not one day these next couple months I will take it for granted!
Thanks for reading guys! I will have a few more posts in the coming weeks in regard to training camp and other festivities!
God Bless!
