Hola Mi Familia and friends, what it do what it do what it do. This Blog is close to my heart and I am so grateful that I can just share what is crackin over here in Lira. Life is good in the hood in the UG, Team Wellspring has been staying busy visiting schools, leading life building sessions, and just pursuing the people here. Most of the filler time in between has been sweet time with the Lord, and as I continually seek Him. He is leading me deeper into his light, and isn’t it a great place to be? Now I am going to share a two day extravaganza: Two days of redemption, freedom and legit-ness that only a heavenly father can serve as a platter of Suck it to the Enemy. It will come in the form of two blogs, because both had their own points, was two diff days, and also I do what I want. lol but seriously I think your gonna enjoy em. Oh and we were not allowed to take pictures of any of the places or people. Sorry 🙁
Friday 10-15-10
On the 15th of October, Team Wellspring was invited to go share with the male prisoners of the Lira Central Prison. My first thought was excitement mixed with a bit of discomfort. The discomfort came from me not loving the idea of being behind bars, being watched, and not knowing how my team would feel in this dark environment. The excitement was knowing that I would not be alone this time. I get to walk into this prison anointed with the Holy Spirit, Ohhh how I was ready to walk with the light.
*Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord Is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for he prisoners,
And so our adventure starts with a long drive away from the town center, over rough and rugged dirt roads. Upon arriaval the building didn’t look like much, it seemed like an average building (well average for Uganda) We walked into the front office and met the Lady Warden. Through the bars and into the courtyard I could see the prisoners running from one side of the courtyard into the other.
The inmates wore yellow suits, many of them didn’t even wear the full outfits and either sported half shirt or bottom. They numbered around 170 and when we met they were quickly corralled into a small room. All men at LCP are between the ages of 18-40, however the crowd portrayed a different story. It was filled with kids my age, very few were old. I instantly I thought of Brother Yun from the book Heavenly Man and how this environment became his because Christ was with him and Christ belongs everywhere we are. I felt a connection with the guys so I was eager to share God wit’ em. We gathered together and I introduced my self and my team. We opened up with prayer and began. I started with a little bit about me and my testimony, which rolled out perfectly I think, but my heart was wrapped up in the message I was about to share. I spoke of Saul and Paul and the conversion of the man trying to destroy the church to now bringing life to it through Christ Jesus. No matter where you are Christ will be with you. I know for sure I left an in print on some of them. But as fast as we were led into the prison, we were led out. What I can say is that there were lots of believers in that box, if anything I feel I was able to encourage those who believe to help the others who dont. I was able to also use one of my favorite scriptures, also a common theme for me while preaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25 and let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and god deeds. Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing. But let us encourage one another- and all the more as we see the day approaching.
While we were in and out I still know that God did what he wanted there, the crowd was open and showed to be receptive. If I had my choice I would of stayed there so that I can help more. But don’t worry there is still work to be Done Son.
