This
is a Blog for my homeslice Thomas Lubczynski; he is from Poland and has been
living in Ireland for a good minute. I
had the privilege of meeting him at the Citi Backpackers Hostel in Dublin. There was a great chance for street ministry
here in the city, a lot went on in the streets and the people were willing to
talk. However a lot of the times I
never could make it out of the door. The people in the Hostel were the ones I felt called to talk to. God’s greatest command was to Love your God
with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself. So I sat in my usual spot in between the
main building and the back house. So Im
in my spot and it was early in the day, we had the late shift for ministry,
which started around 17:00ish. And as I
was sitting there obediently, Thomas came up to me and with a rough tired voice
asked for a smoke. I replied sure if we
can sit and talk, he said yes and so we sat and just talked. We introduced ourselves and were genuinely
interested in each other. He told me
his story and I told him mine. He was a musician down on his luck. He explained to me why he was homeless and
why he was there at the hostel. Someone
saw him sleeping on the street and wanted to buy him a couple nights
indoor. So he took the money and he
explained first why it was a blessing for him to be there, he said that he was
a heroin addict and he would normally use that money to get a fix. But he wanted help from it and so he decided
to find shelter. We talked for a good
couple of hours, I was able to connect with him in some areas and so I told him
about my faith. He didn’t seem too
interested at first but he did tell me he was thankful for the smoke, and that
if I wanted to hang out later that night we could. I mentioned to him our
ministry and that he could get a free meal and clothes. He agreed to that as well and so I hung out
with him there and then back at the hostel afterwards. The next day went about the same except team
GLOW had the morning shift at ministry.
That day he had planned to go see the Social Services office to see if
he could get any help, I had my day planned till about 16:00. That night we talked while there was still
daylight and he explained what went down at his meeting. He couldn’t receive help because he didn’t
have a stable address, I looked into it with him and we found a place that
would accept him, but they wanted 20 euro for the first week.
I had this on my heart all night we had planned
to hang out later that night. But I
took this to the lord and I prayed for what to do. Most of the time this would be an easy decision but when you deal
with an addict there are variable to think about. When I asked God what should I do, He replied listen to his
heart. UHHH OK that makes no sense, but
I will. So we hung out later that night
and we got to talking more about music, like I had said before he was a
musician and beyond that he was a polish rapper and a dang good one to. I have hurd the phrase yeah I am a rapper
thrown around a lot so I told him if he had anything I could hear. We Youtubed his channel and I hurd his work,
his masterpiece, his heart. I couldn’t
understand his words but his style and skill were off the Chain. I heard his heart in his music. I was a believer at that point that God wanted
to do something big in his life. He has
the skills he just needs to be loved and freed much like I was. We stayed up that night having small
freestyle battles (kinda like in 8 Mile) until it was time to crash out. I felt great for two reasons at this point.
One God had led Thomas into my life to just be happy with him, and Two Thomas
wasn’t in some corner with a needle in his arm he was there with me. So the next morning I was in my usual spot,
he came up to me and sat down with all his clothes and possessions in a plastic
bag. He said this is it for me my time
in the Hostel is up. I had hurd his
heart at this point so I sat him down, I first prayed with him and then told
him I had money to set him up a week. He didn’t want to take the money, but I told him when he gets clean and
famous to remember me. We shook on it
and he was off. I don’t really remember
what happened the rest of that day but my heart was in constant prayer for
Thomas. Two days later he comes by and
I was in a meeting and was being detained. He said he would wait so we continued with the meeting. After some time I thought he would of
bounced out but he hadn’t. He was so
eager to see me, we talked a bit and then he said He had great news. Thomas said I wont see you for a while, and
I got the hostel booked. And even better the guy who helped me out said that
there was an opening in a Rehab treatment, I want to get better. My heart SCREAMED with JOY, and I told him
sternly, Brother I am so proud of you. At this point it was late and he had
curfew with the Hostel So he asked me to walk him to the Bus stop, I did and we
talked of what greatness he will receive thru the hardship he will have to
overcome. I told him what helped me get
over the habit, and the lord and I will be there every step of the way. We made our peace and he has begun a
difficult journey, but let prayers of encouragement go out to Thomas, where
ever he is, God will be with him.
