My last month of Ministry. I have been in KL Malaysia and i felt moved to share this experince with you. God Called me here and i had no clue for what. He didnt call me here for a concert but maybe he did. So i just celebrated my 2yrs with Jesus on the 12th. It is always crazy to think of where i came from, even more crazy to think would i even be alive. I thank the lord for everday he has given me and thank him that i get to share his love with those i meet. Those who are lost hurt or broken. So on my CBDay My team gave me a suprise gift. Inside an evelope were tickets to see Deftones live in the KL. A band that i have been a fan of since i was young. The last time i saw them it was the worst show ever. Chino the lead singer was batteling a bad alchohal problem. It was evident that he was drunk when he came on stage that day and so began the worst show ever. So this concert i felt would be the redemption show. They had relased new album a couple months back and though while i was in africa and i got the chance to listen. They had a new message of love and still brought the edge and gritty sound i had loved.
Coming to the doors of the show i was excited there was a certain electricity in the crowd, mainly malaysian locas but we me friends fast. The opening act was a local band that was fairly good. i was super excited because it had been so long since i had been to a live show. I began to think how lucky i was to just be there. The moment came when they said their goodbyes and off they went. The set change brought even more anticipation. I didnt know what to expectbecause of this.
This was the first time the deftones had played the KL the Govt stirkes much fear into the people and how they express themselves. Many artist have been turned away, Beyonce has been banned at most shows here because of her “sinful” appeal. The govt has even gone as far as to bann valentines day because of the Love it represents. So as i sat there waiting for this band that i know and love to come on, i wonder what will the response of the youth is going to be. i know they know deftones but what is about to happen.
And it began as the deftones took the stage the crowds surged and formed a wall of excitement. Every one was on thier feet and as the drums clasped and guitars ripped we moshed and thrashed to the music. There is a certain commradry you can find in most concerts and this was no different. as we danced and threw our bodies into each other, the one who falls down you pick up. We make room for the one tieing his shoe. Our sisters who were in the pit were taken out of harms way when neccesary. I laughed inside as i moshed with a girl who still wore her muslim head wrap and Chuck taylors. Side by side we rocked for an hour and a half. This brought my heart closer to god as i raged with the youth. They had more to celebrate because i have this expericnce alot back in the states. My love for the youth is were he is leading me. We can change the world with this kind of excitment and i cant wait to be aprt of the movement. This month has been confrimation after confirmation. Any where i Go he is always one step ahead of me.
