So as promised I want to go through my other teammates. You can read the first part of this blog by clicking here. When I think about even writing this blog, it’s amazing to me how much we have better come to know each other since that first week in September. If someone would have asked me the first month we knew each other to write a blog about them I would have laughed since coming into this thing I didn’t even know their last names. Now however, it seems completely natural and the things that God has wired them to do.

Agape Gigantisidis or Captain Compassion/ Assistant to the Jefe of Children’s Outreach

When I thought about roles for the team, Lindsey’s role seem the most blatant. Lindsey just feels for people. Her heart breaks when she see someone hurting, she quivers at injustice, and she is passionate about meeting peoples needs wherever they are at. When I describe her, she kinda sounds like a super hero. There have been several times over the course of this trip already where Lindsey has shared her heart in a devotional or conversation and completely rocked me. She see how the world should be, the way God created it to be, and is distraught by how the world actually is. So going back to the superhero metaphor, you might say that injustice is her cryptonite. It weakens her… to the point that she has felt sick on some days. But God has used her weakness to make her into a person of action and strength. He has made her a person that will feed the one asking for food, or take the opportunity to visit the slum and love on the kids. So, Lindsey has been put in charge of giving that fire to the rest of us and heading up any extra compassion ministries that we do with team money or with extra support given to us by one of our supporters.

Intercessory Coordinator and Jefe of Children’s Outreach/ Assistant to the Hospitality Manager

Here on Team Less we are not at all about doing things passively without consideration as to why we are doing it, but we are all about intercession with our creator. Sarah, in particular, is all about prayer. Sarah role on our team was also very easy to think of. She just does it, and she has been doing it since Day 1 without anyone designating that prayer is something she is amazing at. She continually seems to remind us of how pivotal prayer among our team is. It has been very good for me since I sometimes struggle with making my first instinct to pray about things. Sarah also loves to hang out and be around kids. They just stick to her like she is velcro or something. We will go to a place with kids and Sarah will just smile and for the next four hours she will have them crawling all over her. Sarah also helps out pretty much everyone where ever she can. She was the first to crown herself assistant to Colleen and her role with hospitality, and she is always doing what she can to see if people need help.

Logistical Wizard and Handy Man

As for myself, my role is not as defined I suppose. I’m helping and encouraging wherever I can, and providing some humor at the worst times possible to lighten the mood. I’m discovering that God has been raising me up to do many of the things I find myself doing here such as building things, or playing guitar for children, or working with high school students. I try to listen more than speak out, and mediate only when needed. Sometimes I am better than other times. Occasionally when needed I will plan out trips for our team to make them easier. This is where the Logistical Wizardry comes in I suppose.

God is building all of us to be something that we could probably have never grasp before coming on this journey. It seems there is always more to learn, and more to unlearn. All in all God’s got us exactly where he wants us… it’s an amazing thing.
