I was going to post this blog last month since it was sort of inspired by my celebration of Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct 8th) but by the time I got to the internet there were other things on my mind. Instead, I will post this just in time for American Thanksgiving since that’s what most of my fellow World Racers and their families are celebrating.
If you didn’t already know, we worked with Eagles Wings in China last month. It’s an organization that has group homes for children with mild to severe mental or physical disabilities. Some of these thoughts sprung from our ministry there.
So, if you are spending your holiday in the lovely first world country that is the USA, maybe even struggling to find things for which you’re thankful, I hope this is of help.
You have reason to give thanks if:
You can feed yourself. You can walk by yourself. You can bathe yourself.
You have not been outcast by society due to a minor, physical disability.
You have been blessed with children of full mental and physical ability.

You still have your eyesight.
You have full mental function (whether you choose to use it or not is your decision).
You are able to go to the bathroom on your own.
Doctors will agree to operate on you.
You actually get fed and taken care of by nurses while in the hospital.
You are a girl that has not been orphaned or left for dead because of her gender.
People don’t wonder, “What’s wrong with him/her?” as you walk by.
You live in a country where there is
You live somewhere where church fellowship is not limited to once a week, in a city over an hour away.
You can speak freely about what you’d like.
You can access most websites on the internet.
You can update your Facebook status because your nation hasn’t blocked the site.

You receive education based on truth.
Your government doesn't lie about history.
You can see the sky more than once a week.
You can drink your tap water.
You can easily buy real coffee beans.
You have constant electricity and running water.
You have never had lice or had to pick lice from another’s head.
I have so many reasons to give thanks, what are yours?
