TWR 2.3: lazy cambodian sunday
~~~
our first sunday at our ministry site, outside of the kampong chhnang province in central cambodia- our day was filled with a lot of adventure, some unexpected events, and opportunities to relax and embrace sunday, the khmer way.
*episode dedicated to my sweet friend, former semester at sea colleague debra thomas, with whom i have had some of the most memorable, meaningful life-chats while strolling throughout cities all across the globe. debra, thank you for your example of kindness, your heart for people and international adventure, and your cherish friendship. i am so grateful for you!
(to any followers out there- debra was riding in the car with me on my way to LAX to kick off my world race experience!)
TWR 2.4: cambodian chores
~~~
our daily tasks at a cambodian rural ministry site look a little different than how i typically perform chores at home. ;0)
*episode dedicated to one of my FAVORiTE professors in the world- bradbrown. when i worked on the semester at sea fall 2014 voyage, i had the opportunity to build friendships with students, faculty, and staff from across the world, while sailing the world. befriending bradbrown is one of the grandest treasures of my experience- he has a passion for connecting students to opportunities for global connection and cooperation inside and out of classroom contexts. i so admire his gentle heart, extraordinary generosity, and warm hospitality. Thank you, bradbrown and carol, for ALL the ways you have supported me!

TWR 2.5: a glimpse into cambodian ministry
~~~
our team is working with a rural cambodia branch of teen missions int’l, where we assist with the property and have occasional opportunities for outreach and support to local churches.
*episode dedicated to the kearney family, from whom I have received so much love, support, mentoring, and outpour. mr. and mrs. kearney are truly a second set of parents, as they have taken me into their home as a third daughter since i was 11. over the past 20 years, they have so generously and lovingly walked alongside me and led me into a deeper, more personal relationship with CHRiST. they lead by example as followers of JESUS, hold me accountable and challenge me to continue to develop my faith. i am without words to truly communicate how much they mean to me and it is so, so meaningful to have them stand behind me and support me as i serve GOD through the world race!
TWR 2.6: valentine’s day
~~~
our team celebrated a day of love and admiration with a “secret valentine” reveal, frozen jelly pops, and “PiZZA”!
*as this episode is all about love, it seems appropriate to dedicate it to someone who loves with such a pure, gentle, kind heart. i met my beautiful-spirited friend, katy, as a colleague on my semester at sea voyage. she demonstrates care and warmth unlike anyone i’ve ever known. katy, thank you for the way you share your bright, dazzling heart with everyone around you. and thank you for believing in me and supporting me through the world race!

TWR 2.7: market day with EmilyAnn
~~~
EmilyAnn is our team’s treasurer and has been lovingly cooking for us each day. by now, she’s an expert at preparing meals over an open fire, getting creative with our ingredients, and restocking our food supply through weekly trips to the market. today, she took me with her to experience the color and chaos of the khmer market!
*episode dedicated to “house talesh”. as the dean of student life for our voyage, dean rameen hired me as one of his resident directors- took a chance on my with only a phone interview (i still can’t fully process my gratitude!). and having the opportunity to work with him, learn from him was so enriching. not only was rameen a supportive supervisor, he became a friend. in fact, he invited his entire staff into his family, as his wife, dotti, and three sons, darius, kaiden, and rylan, sailed with the fall 14 semester at sea voyage, as well. the whole family has included me in their global adventures off the ship, as well as hosted me in their home in california (including the night before i kicked off my journey with the world race). house talesh, thank you for your openness and warmth, for your care and support!
go cowboys! (that’s for you, rameen!)
