TOMS are not the only ones that give kids shoes!!

 

 

So you maybe wonder where all the money that we raise on the world race goes. There are the obvious things like travel, accommodation, food, Aim Staff. The list goes on and on. It all takes a lot of money but some months we have money left over in our monthly budget and we can choose what we want to do with it.
 

We always choose to bless because we have been blessed!
 

 Over the months we have gave money to churches, Pastors and host Mammas. We have given gifts and took people out for dinner. We have used money to help get a football field for the boys in Honduras. There is so much we have been able to do for the places we have visited because of the money you have given to support me.

 

This month was my favorite in regards of being able to bless the people we were living with.
 

We were staying with Pastor Adam and his family.  This family was one of the kindest families we have met.  They are incredible people that constantly served us. We were truly blessed. They wouldn’t accept money for accommodation they said we can stay in their home for free. All we had to pay for was the food, the cooks and the Guard.
 

This left a good amount of money over for us. So we got together and decided what do we want to do with the money that is left?

Aisha came up with a great idea to buy the kids shoes.  
This has been something that has broke my heart to see kids walking around with shoes that are fallen apart, shoes that are 3 sizes too big for them or no shoes at all!
 

Every Kid deserves to have shoes on their feet!
 

Aisha made this great statement “TOMS are not the only ones that can give shoes out –we can do it too”.

So we took out to the streets and we walked around the village where the kids would hang out. We took out paper and pens and started to trace out the kids feet so we could get their sizes. These kids don’t go to school, some don’t have parents and some have parents that are ill so the kids are looking after the babies.  When we go out they always flock to us, run and give hugs and want you to hold them and play with them. Given these kids even a minute of your time touches them and brings Joy!

I traced many kids feet. I became overwhelmed with children’s feet being pushed in to get traced, but I started to get so excited because we were doing something that was going to make a small difference in their life. 

Some of the other girls went to buy the shoes knowing what sizes to get. We got them good shoes no flip flops that would burst within a week. We were able to buy trainers and school shoes. Even some of the girls on our team gave their own shoes that they didn’t need. We also bought the kids note books, pencils and pens. 

Each kid came in 1 at a time and sat down to pick out their shoes and try them on for size they then got given their note book and pencils along with a memory verse book mark. 

This was one of my favorite moments on the race. The joy on their faces was priceless. 

We were also able to bless the church with bibles, we Gave money to the kid’s ministry. Gave money to the pastor and his family for their new home their moving to, gave to one of the young cooks who has 2 kids and we gave to the guard some extra money as a blessing for constantly taking care of us. We were also able to buy all the cooks different material for them to get skirts made. 

It was an awesome day being able to give these kids shoes and also being able to give to the church and help make a difference.

You are the ones that have bought kids in Africa a pair of shoes. You are the ones that have bought Bibles for churches, blessed kids ministries, taken amazing people out for dinner. You have blessed amazing people that I hold deep in my heart.
