Every person has an innate need to belong, to be affirmed outside of themselves. We often look to careers, relationships, roles, accomplishments, talents, etc. to find the affirmation we are looking for. For me, I tend to find my value/seek affirmation in my leadership, friendships and I play the role of protector. All of these things are not bad in themselves but it’s when I start to find my worth in them does it become unhealthy.

But the reality of the situation is, these things will never truly satisfy my desire to belong because I was never supposed to look to created things for my worth.

Friends, we are supposed to look to the One who created us; Jesus is the only one whom can offer us true belonging and affirmation.

I was given a new life when I committed my life to Christ. In the past I have allowed myself to believe lies that I had been told. Lies such as, I have to perform to a certain standard to gain peoples approval, I’m not good enough or I’m not worthy of peoples time. But the truth is, “the issue of my value was settle on the cross.” Jesus has given me every spiritual weapon to overcome the lies and schemes of the enemy. I just need to exercise the authority I have been given!

I made a public decision during one of classes that “I was done letting other people’s opinions of me dictate my identity.” I am ready to fully walk out my true identity and stop seeking approval and affirmation apart from my Creator. I’m ready to uncover what the Lord says about me and what He has placed inside of me: the gifts, the abilities, the courage, the boldness.

I’m done with only being partially satisfied in life; I want to be fully satisfied. I’m ready to dive deeper and experience everything Jesus has to offer!
