Hey there, our first week of ministry has officially come to an end. With that we have been debriefing this past week. We started the week by evangelizing in different communities going to elderly homes called, “The Matthew 25 houses”, we’ve lead a women’s bible study, we’ve played with little kids at a school and told bible stories, as well as played with street kids. Most of my team and I are trying to learn Creole to better understand the kids/staff we work with everyday.
With this busy schedule God has still managed to find time to touch so many of the local hearts here in Haiti. The first day of ministry we Evangelized at the bottom of a mountain community. We have been living with another team this month, “The Magic School Bus” and we had decided to split off into teams. We prayed and then were off. “Magic School Bus”, going up the mountain and ours went along the bottom. We made it to the first house and walked into the woman’s yard. We talked to her oldest daughter and then she came out from behind the curtain that was used for her front door.
Once she came out we all started asking questions to get to know her better. We asked if she attempted a church and she said no. We asked if she knew Jesus and she said she knew of Him. We asked if she wanted to know more about Him and she said, “yes”. Soon as we got the reply one of my teammates started to talk about what God has meant to her. After she was finished each one of my teammates including myself got words from the Holy Spirit to speak to her of who God is and has been in our life’s.
We asked if the woman had any questions and her only reply was that she wanted to take this seriously. That’s went I asked the question, “Do you want to invite Jesus into your heart?”. She looked at all of us and her reply was simple, “yes”. We all gathered around her and I began to pray. As I was speaking I started to get teared up, not being emotional before I knew it was the Holy Spirit. I felt the love the Father had for this woman. I asked the Holy Spirit to come into her heart and prayed blessing over her and her household. After I was finished, one of my teammates asked if the woman had asked Jesus to come into her heart while we were praying and she said, “yes”.
As we continued on, we prayed for many people, we saw someone healed, and prayed over other believers in the community. Realizing this was literally day one of ministry, I knew we were in for a crazy ride.
Through this past week we have shared the gospel as well as our testimonies, and many have come to the Lord. God is doing something way beyond my comprehension, but I know it’s big. The hearts of the people here have been open and willing to receive the gospel.
I want to encourage you all at home to know that you don’t have to go on a mission trip to share your experience of who Jesus is. A simple conversation of what Jesus has done in your life can radically change someone else’s life. Sharing your story of what God has done in your life doesn’t have to be awkward. In fact, no one can discredit what you have personally experienced. So that right there takes out half the fear of being rejected or shamed.
I can’t wait to share more with you all soon. Week 1 is over, and I can’t wait to see what happens this week! I’m currently $1,200 short of my goal of being fully funded. Please prayerfully consider supporting any way possible, whether through prayer or financial support. Even $5 helps me get closer to be fully funded. Love you all! God Bless
