One of many lessons that I’ve been learning in Honduras is to stop for “The One”. Here in Honduras the name of our ministry is Don’t Miss the Opportunity and I’ve been learning to walk that out. Here in Honduras I’ve found a few “The Ones” that will remain with me the rest of my life. Ariel- This young man is no ordinary man. He grew up in the slums of Tegucigalpa, Honduras where drugs are as easily assessable as food, 8 out of 10 mothers are not married, and most of the kids have 5 or 6 siblings all with different fathers. It is a crazy world in Tegucigalpa, yet somehow, Ariel, this young man has managed to stay clean. He has never been drunk, he has never once been high, and at 18, he has no kids. Ariel has redefined what a young godly man should look like and has found a special place in my heart. We sit and talk in broken Spanish or English, whatever the language of the minute is, and just talk about whatever. He is so gentle, kind, and loving. This young man amazes me and reminds me a lot of Lot. He is a living example of how you can be surrounded by drugs, starvation, sickness, and poverty unlike anything else and still live a Godly life. Many times people look at the ones that have these crazy testimonies, where they were in the darkest of dark, and no one ever believed or saw hope. They couldn’t make it out, there was no way they could turn it around. It seems like they get all the publicity and support. But Ariel is an amazing kid that still needs support. Tony wants to send him to a privet christian school in Honduras that would only cost $100 a month. That covers everything, from books to transportation. If it is on any ones heart to support him, send me an email. He is a great kids who’s life, IS a difference and has redefined how men are supposed to be, a light in the darkness.
