I have only experienced 9.09% of The World Race…
and I’ve already learned so much.
As I’m getting ready to leave Guatemala, I just want to reflect on what this past month has been, what I’ve learned and what I’ve been able to see this past month of ministry.
BEST MOMENTS (in no particular order)
1. One day we were blessed to be able to go to local dump. The dump was nothing like I had ever seen. There were about 35 people who pay Q. 25 a week to come to the dump to dig out trash. We were their to pray for them and hand out food. There was one woman in particular that we prayed for named Maria. She was manifesting a demon, yet she was calling out to the Lord asking Him to come. She cried out for him with all her might. Crying, shaking, she wanted the Lord and He came and gave her peace and healing. She had a headache and when we were done praying, the pain was gone! WHOOH! God is good!
2. There is a boy at Los Gozosos and even though he is only 14 years old, he loves the Lord with all of his heart. There was a time when we were all praying for each other and Danny came over to pray for us. As we were praying Danny just started crying and praying for all of us. He laid hands on us and prayed in Spanish. It was so wonderful seeing this kid love on us so well.
3. There is a girl named Taralah on our squad who has a heart as big as an ocean. She has been wearing contacts since she was in the 6th grade because she can’t see more than 8 inches in front of her face. Well one day she was having problems with her contacts and I thought, “Hey, why not let Jesus heal her eyes?” So I asked her if I could pray for her eyes, she said yes. So we prayed, nothing happened… I asked her if I could spit in some dirt, put it on her eyes and pray for her, she said yes, I prayed, nothing happened… yet. Taralah looked at her contacts and took a step out in faith and snapped her contacts in half. Then found her backups and glasses and broke those as well. She hasn’t been healed yet but she has taken a huge step in faith and she KNOWS that God will heal her in His time.
SOME THINGS I’VE LEARNED
1. I have authority. When we serve God, He gives us the power and authority to do all things through Him as long as we call on His name. Demons, curses, spirits must flee in His name. It is so important to walk in that authority and not give the enemy a chance to get any kind of foothold.
2. Foundation is SO important. If God is going to build anything in my life, I need to have a strong foundation… If I don’t then everything is going to crumble. Now building this foundation for me has looked like God being very quiet. Not hearing His voice or feeling His presence… it has been hard. I have never missed anyone to the point of tears, but I’ve genuinely missed God. So I find myself crying out to God in desperation. But God is NOT a feeling. Sometimes we need to remember on our knowledge of Him and who He is.
3. Trials are a very good thing. Job 23:10 “But He knows the way I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as GOLD!”
This month has been a challenge and very stretching for me. However it is time to close this chapter and begin a new one in Honduras… I’m ready to see where the Lord takes me.
