I wish I could write more often but to be honest the days fly by! Between organizing my team, organizing with our ministry contact, figuring out future plans, and dealing with everyday obstacles that arise from traveling with 7 people, after dinner and team time I am beat! But it’s soooo good! I love the challenge and the community. It is building me into a man of God and showing me that at the end of the day, without Gods strength I am worthless and empty. With his strength I am an empowering and servant leader to my team and our ministry work.
Life here in Antigua seems to surround itself by food and community. This is most apparent in our dealings at the market. The people are friendly for the most part, unless you don’t know Spanish. And guess what? We barely know any! So often we receive looks of despair I call them. We get through it and both parties seem satisfied.
Our work is with a ministry called Nueva Generacion. NG is part of a much larger ministry called Mission Impact. They can be viewed at missionimpact.com. We work to build disciples in the local public and private school systems. We are just beginning our work in the schools and have spent the last 2 weeks loving on challenged children at a private Hospital and spending time with the elderly at what the locals call “Grandpa Homes.” I am falling in love with the children at the hospital as I am sure you have seen in the pictures.
So far this trip has been very tough for me spiritually and emotionally. Things at home for me are very unsettling as I have a beautiful cousin, Regan Moore, on life support in Riverside CA after a tragic car accident. My own family situation is in progress but will take time to iron out the details between my mom and dad. I love them both so much, and will continuer to do so. I pray they lean on God in their lives and hope I am a good example with my own life.
Okay that’s all for now. I’m heading up to the kitchen to make Spinach lasagna for my team on a cool and wet Antigua evening. I hiked up a volcano yesterday with some of my team and a few girls from the other team. Enjoy the pictures of my volcano hike on my other blog (ponyboynow.blogspot.com) and I’ll write soon.
