Sorry 4 The Wait

Yes! This is not a drill. I am finally posting a blog, after 48 days here in Guatemala. So much has happened and God has worked in so many ways and this blog will express how God’s work has affected others along with myself. So let’s start at the beginning.
On September 9th we landed in Guatemala, words cannot describe how excited I was to be back in this amazing country.
“When I first saw Aderkee I fell in love” Aderkee my ministry host typed that while I was using the restroom, so I guess this is a good opportunity to introduce him. Aderkee or as I call him “Dekis” is my team’s ministry host, he takes us to our villages to play soccer with the kids every ministry day. He has an amazing heart for God and others, he is always smiling and laughing even when he sees dogs that got ran over because “it’s funny”. Aderkee has taught me so much whether it be to laugh when bad or frustrating things happen, or new words in Spanish, or even how to kick the soccer ball properly. Nonetheless Aderkee is great and I wish you all could meet him. But hey at least everyone can see this picture.
Now that you have met my ministry host I think it would be appropriate to explain what my ministry is. Our ministry is sports ministry well really soccer ministry which is great because we can provide the kids with what they love which is soccer but also providing them with something everyone needs which is Jesus. At first it was difficult to interact with the kids because of the language barrier and the fact that these kids see many missionaries come and go, but once they realized that we are here to build a relationship with them for 3 months, they welcomed me with open arms. I have just recently gained the title of Chapin which means Guatemalan which is very ironic. Not only have we been able to teach these kids they have been able to teach me as well. Something that really stands out is gratefulness, these kids are so appreciative for what they have even if it is so little. This has taught me to never take anything for granted which is a wonderful mindset to have and I think everyone should live by.
Expect Part 2 Next weekend.
Thanks,
Damon
