Hello again!!!
This summer I have the AMAZING opportunity to travel to the Philippines with a group of fellow young adults. During my travel I will be spending one month in Manila. We will be partnering with Kid’s International Ministry (KIM). While there we will have the opportunity to serve in such amazing and practical ways which include serving in the nursery, building relationships with kids, tutoring, assisting with the daily distribution of food and medicine, leading devotions with the youth, serving in the birthing clinic, assisting with disaster relief work, and helping identify kids and people who need medical care.
A few months again I began to research ideas of things to do over the summer. I found Adventures in Missions, researched the trips, and decided to apply. I knew this was something I really wanted to do and felt the call of God on my heart to apply for it, but I was not sure if it would work out. I had an interview and on the SAME day received a call back letting me know I had been accepted to go on the trip. How cool is that? Without a second thought I said yes. I believe in the faithfulness of God and His provision. If it is a call from Him, He will make a way.
I chose to apply for the trip to the Philippines because I have a heart and call for Southeast Asia. Sometimes we do not understand why, but we feel a passion and yearning in our spirit which can only be from the Lord. Sometimes God does not tell us directly what to do, but gives us passions and gifts. I have felt a call of missions on my life for a long time and I am excited to go and fulfill the call God has placed on my life.
I am so excited and expectant for this trip. I believe that God is going to move in a new way. Often times I get the idea that missions is only about preaching or sharing in worship, but it is also the practical and sweet moments of every day life. We often do not realize what sharing a smile or caring for a need of someone actually does in their life.
The Bible verse for this trip is James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for the orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
I thoroughly believe not every one has the call to go internationally, but I do believe each and every person in the Kingdom of God has a purpose in sending others to the mission field. I am believing big things to happen, but I need YOUR help! I can not do this without the prayer and financial support of many.
Thank you for your support and believing in me to impact the nations for the Lord.
Blessings,
Dakota 🙂
