A year ago today I showed up at World Race launch a scared dude from a little ole town called Bremen ga, I was scared, nervous, but anxious to just get on a plane to the Dominican Republic to see what this missionary life is all about, and my whole world changed. The past year of my life I have experienced so much! I never thought my life would be as good as it is! But the past year I have changed in so many ways. I have gained the best friends/community in the world, I experienced Jesus in so many different cultures, i have went through hard things and came out on the other side stronger and with a new perspective.
-Common questions
Is living on the field easy?
No
Is it good?
Absolutely, It’s a dream and a calling the lord has on my life that I love and wouldn’t trade anything for. But it does come with hard things. Just like every other aspect of life!
How is it living in community?
I personally love living in community, at home you have really good friends but in most cases you don’t live with them and do life with them everyday so you don’t know know know them like you would if you lived with them. I got to know the people I lived with better than I felt like I knew my own parents lol because all day everyday I did life with them and I loved it! In that we have the chance to build up each other, ask the hard questions, ask them what Jesus is speaking to them, or what they read that morning when they woke up, and just live life.
I’m writing a letter To Dakota Chance this day a year ago.
Dakota, stop worrying about things you’re leaving behind, they are just comforts that feel important that actually aren’t. You’ll soon realize you don’t need wifi all the time or phone service, things that waste your time when you get bored because you are surrounded by a community of people that are always gonna be there for you. Ministry isn’t easy and yes you have a lot to learn but if you trust Jesus the Holy Spirit will speak to you when he needs you to tell someone something during evangelism. Stop worrying about support raising, the money is going to come in because god has called you to this and you know this, he is a provider and keeps his promises. Ministry becomes a lifestyle so soak up all the things you can about it, stay present, don’t think of the future… live in today. You love intentional relationships so meet and get to know the locals and show them what Jesus looks like before even mentioning his name, they will see the glow you have, show them love if they don’t want to hear about him. Live an intentional life, with racers, locals, hosts, Jesus puts these people in your life for a reason! You’re gonna kill it and future dakota which is writing this loves living on the mission field so you’ll love it!
On the other hand I will be In Ecuador on Wednesday and I could t be more excited to go back out on the field and bring kingdom! Thanks Jesus!
ALSO I NEEEEEEEDDDD HEEEELLLLPP!!! Support raising has been hard and I really need financial support! So pleeeeeeaaasssseee pray about donating, it literally would mean the world to me!
