Month 10 is in full swing and month 11 is in sight, friends! Daily I reflect on this year and what a wild ride it’s been and how much God has taught me. I’m thankful and in awe that I’ve been allowed to experience this. I knew it was going to be good and full of lessons, but the good and the lessons that came from it turned out so much different that I had anticipated. Not only that, but my experiences turned out different as well. At the end of our time in Asia, our leaders flew in from the States to brief us on Central America. It was during that time that they informed us we’d have the opportunity to travel into additional countries if the Lord called us. I was honestly so excited for the three planned countries we had in front of us that I really didn’t even consider the other options.

But at the end of our time in Costa Rica I began praying into our time in Nicaragua, and clearly heard the Lord start speaking into plans He had for my team in both Honduras and El Salvador. And if this year has taught us nothing else, it’s taught us that when God opens a door you better run through it because the adventure on the other side is awesome. We entered Nicaragua focused on who and what was in front of us, starting out with the entire Fusion Squad as well as a sister squad at a conference. We encouraged and fueled each other up, preparing to finish the race strong (literally The Race). From there my team moved north to Léon where we had the opportunity to board down a volcano with some friends we had picked up along the way. During our stay here we met two other missionaries we are stationed long-term in Honduras. Okay God, I see you.

Thanks to these two new friends, we got connected to a ministry in Honduras that was only a few hours north of the capital. Our stay in Honduras was short but so very sweet. The team was able to work alongside of Eternal Family Project. This project is founded by a woman who is in the process of adopting 22 girls who have come off the street or can no longer be with their biological families for one reason or another. We were blessed to be able to work in the school they started or at the home. I was so encouraged by these believers who give so much of themselves daily to ensure all these young girls have a future full of love and hope.

We knew the Lord also wanted us to experience El Salvador. We also knew if He wanted us there, He would have to get us there. As we were praying into it, we were reminded of some friends in back in Costa Rica. So we reached out to them and they connected us with a ministry in Tunca, El Salvador. The ministry was gracious enough to welcome us with open arms and provide us with a place to rest our heads for a week. They’ve also directed us and provided us with ways to serve and love on the people while we’re here.

So, no. This year hasn’t been what I’ve expected. And praise the Lord for that. It’s been so much more beautiful. Hard. But beautiful. I’m not quite ready to blog about my emotions or where I’m at with this season almost being over. I’ll let the time dwindle a little more before I do that 😉 But where God has me right now is amazing and I’m so thankful for this life. Join me, friends, in praying for the remaining time and even the time when I return home. I’m excited for both times. Because our God is a God of adventure, joy and fun! Where you are and wherever you find the Kingdom, it’s pretty amazing and full of wonder.
