we rode motorbikes to make jewelery with old people!
I love Vietnam. Honestly, I’ve loved every minute of this country. Even the hard times were good because the Lord taught me so much through them. And it’s funny because, while I’ve loved it, there are a lot of people who haven’t. There are a lot of people who have found the busy city distracting or have gotten frustrated when things didn’t work according to plan. It’s understandable. It happened a lot and this city is crazy. But for whatever reason, I love it here. I love the people. I love the craziness. I love simply being and finding rest in the Lord amidst the chaos around me. I didn’t know it going in, but this month is what I’ve been waiting for all Race long. Now with all that being said, how do I even begin to describe to you this month. Where do I even begin? This month has been filled with so many lessons, so much joy, and so much love for me. I honestly don’t even know where to begin.
Most of our time here was spent working with kids in some fashion. From visiting orphanages to playing with street kids, I loved every moment of it. In addition to the kids though, we had the opportunity to spend some time with university students while we were here. We talked with them, played games and sang songs with them. One day we even played volleyball against them! It was a lot of fun to learn more about the culture and to see Jesus at work in each of their lives.

Mid month, our team also had the opportunity to travel out of the city in order to visit and pray for some other churches. This country is by no means dead, my friends. The Spirit is alive and at work.

So that’s what I did. As far as what I learned…man, I don’t even know where to begin. I sincerely worshiped more this month than I have any other. Not necessarily played my guitar more, but truly sat and just worshiped the Lord. I reached this point in my life where that’s all I want to do. All I want to do is bring Him glory in everything I do. I also learned lessons on obedience this month and what it means to act in faith. I learned to just let go and trust God with every bit of my life (though I can guarantee I’ll learn and relearn this one) and to live in the truth that He’s a good God and is faithful to provide all of my needs. I reached a point of pure joy, as I was overwhelmed with the mere thought of the grace and love God continues to pour out on me on a daily basis. It was as if this month, all of a sudden everything made sense. All those things I learned in school, all that head knowledge I had, finally made it to my heart. I can’t explain it. I simply love it.
And because I love it, I let iPhoto make a slideshow for me. These are the children who helped me reach this place. These are the children whose faces radiate Christ. These are the children I can’t help but love because He loved them first. I want nothing more than to love them with everything I have and because of that, my prayers will not cease for them.
