Every once in awhile, you meet someone you know you’ll never forget. For me, one of these people is Colleen. Now, before I continue, let me just say, I don’t exactly have the best track record with friendships. I actually had a very negative view of friendship overall until I met two individuals, one of which is Colleen. Through simply knowing her, Colleen helped restore my view on friendship.
Colleen’s friendship has blessed me in numerous ways. One of the most important things she’s done for me is constantly speak Truth into my life. Countless times it was Colleen who would reassure me of God’s love for me, His purpose for my life, and the strength and beauty I possessed as His child. With her help and encouragement, I was able to get through some of my darkest times, knowing she’d always be only a phone call away at most. Whether it was making me listen to “Get your head in the game” from HSM before class or the one occasion she actually sung me a lullaby, I never had to question her intentions.
A friendship that helped me learn to trust others, myself, and God-I thank you Colleen for just being you. You are one of the few in my life where I can sincerely say you have surpassed friendship and become my sister. If it weren’t for you and the way you worked as God’s vessel to speak Truth into my life, I wouldn’t have had the courage and strength to even apply for the World Race and go through with all of this. Thank you for being one of my strongest supporters throughout it all and for helping me stay strong when things got tough.
