I’m still selling my t-shirts and sweatshirts for a few more days. “The Veil is Torn” signifies that we have full access to the Father. In earlier times, the presence of God was kept in the tabernacle where the only the ordained high priest could offer a sacrifice to atone for the Israelites’ sins once a year. The presence of God was so powerful that anyone who was not pure could die in His presence because God was so holy. There was a huge veil separating the area where God dwelled, the Holy of Holies. It is believed that the veil was around 60 feet high (40 cubits,1 Kings 6:17).
The moment that Jesus died it stated that “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split”(Matthew 27:50-51).
The ironic thing is that the veil tore from top to bottom. Having the veil tear from 60 feet high signifies that it had to be God that ripped the veil and not man. When Jesus died it was seen as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins and allows us the opportunity to enter into God’s presence (Hebrew 4:14-16). So now regardless of any sin, wrong-doing, or transgression that we have done, we have full access to humbly come before God.
