Our 1st travel day has been around 27 hours long. Overall it’s was pretty smooth, with a few bumps of miscommunication and delays. Honestly, the Lord has been good to us for our first WR travel experience compared to some crazy stories I’ve heard before. Although it’s been good, this day has been hitting me hard with all of the “see you later’s” that this is finally happening. It’s so many emotions realizing that the journey you have been dreaming and praying about is finally here yet it’s been emotionally taxing learning to let go of the “normal”.
The Normal of
-easily picking up the phone and reaching out to family and friends
-knowing that almost every establishment has WiFi
-being understood in English everywhere
-and simply having the option to go or do what you want
Granted, I’ve done mission trips before where this is the norm yet it’s still setting in that this will be my new “norm” for the next year. But I’ve chosen to see the joy in the unknown for this next year.
“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.” Philippians? ?4:11? ?ESV??
There will be multiple times throughout this next year that I will not know when I’m getting to my destination, how I’ll get there, or what circumstances I’ll have to work through to be able to minister. Yet, I’ve chosen to have joy to see every situation as a potential opportunity for growth in contentment and resting in the Father’s plan . I know that through every situation, problem or mishap that the Lord is with us along this journey and there’s something to be learned from it. Choosing to be content in every situation will require faith that God will work all things together for good, for those who love Him (Rom 8:28).
“There’s a reason for journey, there is purpose in the learning, that not everything in life comes easily, that not everything in life comes naturally” -Steffany Gretzinger, Getting There (one of my life songs!)
***UPDATES***
-I’ve made it safely to my first country, Panama, where we’ll be working with an organization called Missions Beyond Aviation to build a landing strip. They are American missionaries who help to provide goods to the indigenous Ngabe Bugle tribe. Also we will be working with them to construct a new church in the area.
-My main form of communication is now through this blog, WhatsApp or email([email protected]). Leave a comment if you would like my WhatsApp info.
