Time on the World Race can have a plethora of sleeping arrangements.
They can range anywhere from:
- 8 people in 1 Hotel room
- Hostels (a morning view from a window at our Panama City debrief hostel)

- a room where you all throw down your sleeping pads and backpacks explode everywhere due to limited organizational space
- a house (full of bunk beds in Ecuador!)

- an extra room in the church
- or….tent villages. These ‘villages’ can pop up indoors to escape mosquitoes and cockroaches, under an awning, or outdoors in a field. Regardless of the whereabouts, we Racers usually enjoy such living because it means you (kind of) get your own room for the month! In a culture where you can’t go anywhere without someone else and you are always doing things with people, tenting months give (some version) of personal space, solitude, and organizational room.
In the Dominican Republic…

Costa Rica…
Honduras…

My tent is complete with:
A closet…aka packing cubes for organizational purposes.
bed, sheets, and a pillow….
medicine cabinet….and junk drawer/electronic cords corner.
book shelf/bedside table…
accessory line….complete with earrings from every country and some intriguing necklace finds!
sewing cabinet…..and bracelet storage.
a yard of sorts…and neighbors for a social life…!!!
I’ve hope you’ve enjoyed the tour of my living quarters!
For anyone preparing to go on the World Race I am compiling a World Race app guide, specifically for apple products and with some specific advice for people going on the next Spanish Route! So, stay tuned if you’re interested!
Live Well,
Crystal
