Hey y’all!
Some of you may remember how much I was against being any kind of leader when I launched out in January of 2015. I wanted a year without being the responsible one or the person in charge. Well I made it four months into our year long mission trip before I was asked to be a team leader. At first I really, really, really wanted to say no. However, when I prayed about it, the Lord told me to stop being selfish (I guess the world doesn’t revolve around me and what I want hahaha).
I stepped into team leading and essentially some of the most interesting months of my life. I am all about stepping out of my comfort zone, but last year it seemed like the majority of my days were outside of my comfort zone. I grew a lot last year to say the least. I ended up spending seven months last year as a team leader.
Well, the leading isn’t over with yet. I will be packing all my things into a back pack yet again and heading back out in August for five months as a Squad Leader. It is a step up from leading a team of six or seven, to leading a squad of over fifty people.
You would think after all of last years crazy experiences I would run in the opposite direction. But, if you know me, you know challenges don’t scare me either. Parasites, earthquakes, accidents, robberies…been there, done that. Plus you don’t say “No” when you are called to GO!
As a squad leader I get to do something I love. I get to pour into people, hear their life stories, see their hearts, and watch them grow and grow their relationship with the Lord. I get to go back on the field and love on people (and hopefully more orphans:)).
You are probably wondering where I will be heading! Good question! I am wondering the same…but I won’t find out until June.
In the mean time, I have to raise more funding to launch out. My goal is $6,500, which will cover insurance, travel, food, lodging, ect for the months that I am away.
Please, please, please donate if you can!
And if you can’t donate, just keep us all in your prayers:) PLEASE!
