Since announcing my endeavor to spread the gospel through this exciting adventure of the World Race, I’ve received a lot of questions. No, I’m not going to be a part of the reality TV show. It is something much cooler. Read along if you want to know the answers to these commonly asked questions!
What is the World Race?
The WR is an 11-month mission trip. Each month I have the opportunity to travel and serve in a different country.
Why?
God told me to. Really, He did! He told me the month I would leave and the route I would travel before I knew “October 2016 Route 1” was a thing. The nations have always been a desire God placed on my heart, and sharing His undeniable love is what He called me to do.
Where am I going?
This is always subject to change, but as of right now, here is the rundown:
Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Ukraine, Romania, Albania, and Greece
Costs?
$16,561 plus money for plane tickets to and from training camp/launch and gear.
When do I leave?
This October, that’s right, October 2016, I’ll be boarding a plane and saying, “see ya in a year, America!”
Am I going with my church? Friends?
Haha, nope! One of the most exciting things about the WR is that I will be part of a squad of 50ish people that I’ve never met. I mean, we’re friends on Facebook, so I guess if you want count that, you can 😉
Wait, you’re only going to have ONE bag…for 11 months?
That is correct! One large backpack filled with only the essentials: A tent, journaling supplies, and chacos. I can’t forget the chacos! Oh, there will probably be some clothes and stuff packed in there too.
Is it safe?
With any kind of travel, there is always risk involved, but Adventures in Missions (AIM) is an incredible organization, and if our safety is in serious jeopardy, they will change route. For 10 years, they have been sending people out, and thousands have returned home safely.
Are you scared?
Yes, and no. Ask me tomorrow and I’ll have a different answer. Traveling to some of the lesser-known parts of the world does not scare me too much, but missing a year of life with my family and friends here in the State absolutely terrifies me. A lot happens in a year. They will be different, and I will be different, and that is nerve racking.
So, let’s get this straight. You’re not finishing your degree, deferring school loans, leaving behind comfort to live out of a backpack, and missing out on an entire year of life to travel?
Well, yes! It doesn’t make sense unless you throw God into the equation. Of course, I have fears because I am human, but He has called me the Race, and He will provide. God is a God of Purpose and Provision, and when we follow His purpose, provision always follows.
How can you help?
Prayer is a must now and once I’m on the field. But, I also need to raise the funds if I ever want to leave the country. I’ve raised $3,766, but I still need $12,795. By pressing the “support me” button, you’ll be helping immensely 🙂
