Until training camp, launching in October was a far off, futuristic event. My brain knew it was coming, but nothing felt like it was changing. Then, training camp hit, I was placed on a team, and the ball began to roll.

Since coming home, I have begun to realize my life is about to turn around. As I begin my goodbyes, pieces are clicking into place. The World Race isn’t something I am thinking about doing anymore, it is something that is happening. It is now more of a reality than a fantasy.

Yesterday my flight itinerary to Cambodia was sent out. Yup! That’s right! On October 5, my squad and I will be heading out on our 11-month adventure. With two layovers, one being in Chicago and the other Korea, the travel day will be around 46 hours long. Although it will be a very long day, it will be an exciting day!

I also found out a little more about our first ministry assigInment! My team and I will be living in Phnom Penh and working in the surrounding rural villages with Kinship Cambodia and Adore Mission at One Hope International School. Kinship Cambodia is a grounded ministry. That means they have just registered their church license with the Cambodian government.

On Sundays we’ll go to service with Kinship and possibly teaching English in the evenings.  M-F we’ll be working with Adore Mission. We could be doing anything from cleaning the classroom to teaching songs, English, and assisting children with writing the Khmer alphabet. In the evening, we might have the opportunity to go visit villagers and build relationships, share the gospel, etc. Saturdays are our Adventure/off day!  We were told, however, that we need to be flexible and our plans could change at a moment’s notice!

As I get closer to launch, more butterflies swirl around my heart!

Going back to the idea of flexibility, there has been another route change. This is not an uncommon occurrence with the World Race. On day 3(ish) of training camp, we found out Greece was no longer our month 11 because of safety and the need there is not something racers can offer. We don’t know where our last month will be spent, but it will be great!

So, as of now, this is our route:

Cambodia

Thailand

Malaysia

Philippines

Zimbabwe

Zambia

Malawi

Ukraine

Romania

Albania
