My second week in Bolivia has been so good and full of diversity. We did so many different things and that seems to be the theme this month. I love it!
We learned how to do a special Bolivian dance which was very cool. (Thank you Eduardo, Adriana and Cilvia.) Our hosts took such good care of us and were such a blessing. Thank you!!
We went to visit the Principal Square in downtown Santa Cruz. We visited the cathedral, the art museum and then had some good ice cream with our new friend. (Thank you Joaquin.)
One day we did some yard work around the YWAM base we were staying at. After that, we went to help with a Children’s VBS. That was fun! We learned 2 cute little dances that we did for the kids and 2 dramas.
That weekend we did some street and door to door evangelism again. We got to pray for many people and share the gospel a lot. At the end of the weekend, Rhi shared her testimony at the church and Jaivie shared a powerful message. It’s so encouraging to see how the Lord is using each of us to spread the good news and to share what He’s done for us. We also made some new friends this weekend who helped translate. It was such a blessing to get to know them. (Thank you Gabriel and Miguel.) I am so thankful for all the friends we made at Montes de Los Olivos Church. It was such a blessing to spend time with the Pastor and his family and with Sara. Thank you all for hospitality and friendship.
This month we had to hand wash all our laundry and hang them to dry. Let’s just say, that’s not my favorite thing to do, but it gets the job done. I’m very thankful for running water and the big sinks we were able to use. It was still a blessing.
I feel so spoiled and blessed by the Lord. Wendy and I went to a beautiful cafe right before Christmas. I was feeling a little sad and missing home so it was actually just what I needed but I didn’t know that was just what I needed. We were just going to go to a cafe to get some coffee and relax and it ended up being so much more. It really rejuvenated me and I felt that Christmas feeling I used to have back home. There was Christmas music playing, beautiful decorations and such an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. It was more than I could have asked more. I even finally got me some creme brûlée and bacon which I’ve been wanting for months. Thank you Lord!
This week we had the pleasure of adding 2 members to our team, Tim & Zach. It was so nice to have some guys on our team for 2 weeks. I’m very thankful for these brothers and am glad I got to know them a little better.
At the end of this week, we put on an event for the neighborhood children in the next town over from where we were staying. We did some games, dramas and a couple dances. It was a lot of fun and it was really cool to include the guys in our dramas and dances. I hope they enjoyed being with us as much as we enjoyed having them. At this event, a bunch of children came with their parents so I was able to spend a little time with the parents and share my testimony with them. I really hope I was able to encourage them and share how good and faithful our God is. A couple days later we helped clean this church. Later, the pastor took us to his house and we were able to swim in the pool and just relax.
Ok, I have to tell you guys about this fruit we’ve been eating all month called achachairu. It’s like a little yellow fruit with white stuff inside and a big seed. It’s hard to explain what it tastes like. It’s sweet yet tart. I loved it. We bought it by the bag full, like 100 at a time.
On our adventure day, we went to a beautiful waterfall called Espejillos and swam in this beautiful water and went under the waterfall too. We had to hike a bit to get to the big waterfall but it was so nice and such a beautiful day.
It’s been such a wonderful week and I’m so thankful for my team, the 2 new members of our team and all the new friends we made here in Bolivia.
(I just wanted to apologize to you all that I haven’t been blogging in a while. Honestly, things have been super busy and crazy and tiring. I’m going to do my best to catch up. I’m also sorry that I’m not able to attach pictures like I would like. Please visit my Facebook page where I will share this update and look in the comments. I’m going to be posting pictures there. That seems to be the best way to do this because of the slow Wi-fi. Thanks everyone!)
