This was my fourth birthday spent overseas on the mission field. Some may not prefer it but I absolutely LOVE it! Yes, I’m away from family and friends but I so enjoy celebrating life in a new culture and in a new way. I celebrated my 18th birthday in Russia, 22nd in South Africa, 25th in Haiti, and now my 26th in Ecuador. I was so blessed this year by the squad and my co-leaders, Billy and Katie. I woke up with a warm shower, hot cup of tea, lots of birthday wishes, and headed to the equator for adventure day.
That evening we all went out for a middle eastern cuisine at Aladin’s to share our last meal as a squad before we launched. When I arrived, I had a birthday muffin, banner, and stack of cards waiting on me. Ahhh…I am so blessed and loved!
Katie, Billy, and I concluded the evening commissioning our squad out and baptizing Karaline in the city square park. Karaline gave her heart to Jesus during launch and asked if we would baptize her that night before leaving. She is a new Creation in Christ…old things have passed away, behold all things are made new! Praise Jesus!! I couldn’t ask for a better birthday celebrating new life in Christ and a generation commissioned to be Jesus to the world. I love my life.
