Majesty
The first 2-months of the race I made a decision to have minimal access to the internet. The purpose of this was to be fully-present wherever I was. I desired to see the glory of God, without distractions and boy did I.
If I could summarize the first 2 months of the Worldrace, into one word, I would say Majesty. God has displayed his majesty in the most unique ways. Often, I looked for huge miracles or signs to openly declare the majesty of God. Honestly, I wanted to see someone walk on water or something like that. God quickly taught me a valuable lesson about the way he works.
Say Hello to Joseph.
From the picture you may gather that Joseph is a handsome teenager, with a big smile and cool hair, whom likes to have fun! Although your assumption is true, there is so much more to this young fella. Joseph is one of the brightest youth leaders at Iglesia Nueva Vida in Los Guidos Costa Rica. If I may, I would like to inform you on a few fun facts about Los Guidos. Los Guidos is the 2nd most dangerous slum in Costa Rica. Drugs and violence run rampant through the streets. Prostitution and the “Sex for money” business is vibrant. Business is even better for underage girls. The risk of being robbed in this city is so high that walking around the block with a back pack is a guaranteed knife in your side.
In a life surrounded by darkeness this 11-year old walks against the grain by being a follower of Jesus Christ. Joseph also has a dream. His dream is to be a missionary who disciples others to make disciples. I am almost 98% sure most of you all missed that. This is an 11-year old kid who can dream to be ANTHING in the world. He could be a doctor, lawyer, proffesional soccer player (he’s actually really good at soccer), or singer but his dream is to fulfill the Great Commission. That has MAJESTY written all over it.
To make this Majesty talk even sweeter! We as 3rd generation I Squad were led by the Holy Spirit to help this young man pursue his dreams. The whole squad put their resources together to purchase Joseph a Passport. When we presented him with an illustration of a passport he immediatly began to cry and say how grateful he was that his Dream had come true!
I could brag about Joseph all day but quite frankly, its not about how awesome he is. It’s not about our squad purchasing him a passport. Its about the God who fearfully and wonderfully made him. It’s about the God that protects him and his family every single day. It’s about the Jesus he possesses that inspires him to “go and make disciples”. It’s about God’s Majesty!
I want to encourage you to actively seek out Gods Majesty. Open the eyes of your heart and see Gods sovereign hand at work. It may appear to you as a warm smile, a tight hug, a childs laugh, or a home cooked meal. No matter how it manifests, say amen and let your heart cry out “How Great is your Majesty”
Thank you Father for your majesty. You are so good to us. No matter how hard life tries to knock us out. Your grace and mercy fight for us. I love you Papa! Amen
