Since my sophomore year in high-school I’ve been scheming on ways to go on a long term mission trip.  I googled “long term mission trips” and waded through the sketchy options hoping to find the trip God had called me to,  I prayed and asked God to lead me to the “perfect” trip, and I asked friends and mentors what they thought of my plans to serve over seas.  And then I found Adventures in Missions.  Middle of the first semester of my junior year of college I found the World Race and fell in love.  I spent hours pouring over blogs, reading expectations, wading through mission statements, and falling in love with stories from around the world.  Sitting in my dorm room with my laptop in front of me (and my homework forgotten) I knew this was the trip.  This was the opportunity that my 16 year old self had started praying for 6 years ago.  And then…I waited to apply.  For a year.  A. Whole. Entire. YEAR.

Even after waiting a year, the 10 days of waiting for an official answer after my initial phone interview were the worst.  And then they called and I heard the words “congratulations! Welcome to the World Race!!”  It happened!!  I’m going on the World Race in October!!

Some of you have just read those two paragraphs and still have no idea what I’m doing (some of you read those two paragraphs and thought “Finally!! We’ve been hearing about this for forever”). So let me explain.

The World Race is an 11 month mission trip that takes you around the world.  I will backpack through 11 different countries and spend a month in each.  In each country the ministry I will be doing will look different because it will be based on what specifically is needed in that country.

The countries I will be visiting (starting in October 2018)

Colombia
Ecuador
Peru
Bolivia
Argentina
India
Nepal
Armenia
Georgia
Bulgaria
Albania

Funds must be raised and preparations must be made, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God will guide and provide.  Though this adventure has just begun I feel like God has already done so much in proving His faithfulness on this journey.

I can’t wait to see what God does through this journey!
