My team Beautiful Things and I have been in Malaysia for about a week now. It has been a crazy ride thus far. Malaysia is another ATL month where we do not have contacts set up for us. So upon entering Malaysia we booked an Air BnB for 3 nights to take some time to pray and figure out where the Lord would have us go. During those three days we found another Air BnB in a great location. So we booked it and were excited for what was to come. As we traveled to our new living space we had not yet heard from our host. We were dropped off at the address we were given outside of a apartment complex. Still no word from our host. We decided to take action and find a place with wifi to message our host and Air BnB. So we headed to KFC where we waited for 6 hours while trying to figure out what to do next. No one could seem to get a hold of our host, so my teammates and I began to search for new housing arrangements. Because it was getting to be around 8pm Air BnB was so helpful and gave us credit to stay in a hotel.

My team and I were blessed to stay in downtown Kuala Lumpur for two nights where we continued to struggle finding a new place to stay. We were having trouble trying to stay within our World Race budget and find a place to sleep. So once again we booked another place for 3 days to continue our search. We stayed at a guest house right by China town. Where we were was not the nicest neighborhood nor sleeping arrangements, but we had a place to stay and got to explore China town. While there my team and I observed many different dark activities happening around us. This lead my team and I to our knees as we participated in an all night prayer watch (or burn as some people call it). This is where we took shifts and made sure there was at least one person awake through the night praying. As our time was running out we had to find a place to stay more permanently (aka for more than 3 days). Eventually we found a nice Air BnB and are currently staying in Penang Malaysia where ministry so far has looked a lot like grocery shopping, prayering, eating, worship, and resting. As we finally get to stay somewhere for more than three days my team and I are excited for what is to come!

It’s ironic though because coming into Malaysia my team and I did some vision casting and we wanted to slow down some this month. Last month was awesome, but we all felt like we were on the go 24/7. So this month we wanted to add more intentionality to our interruptibility. However, the Lord had other place for our first week here in Malaysia, seeing as to how we moved to four different places in just a week. In the midst of it all I felt like I couldn’t catch a break from all that was going on around me. I didn’t understand why nothing seemed to be working out. But looking back I can see how each place was important and God ordained. Air BnB #1 was a time of rest and adjustment. Our canceled Air BnB was a redirect. The hotel was a blessing and time of refreshment. The guest house was a call to intercession and a glimpse into what our ministry this month is. Our current Air BnB is a space for us to draw near to the Lord, intercede, rest, and worship.
So much happened in just a week and it felt kind of like living in a whirl wind, but I am so thankful that God was in the whirl wind with us controlling the breeze. Oh and the story behind the title. As we though we would only be moving once and a short distance away we decided to bring our left over groceries with us. This happened to include about a dozen eggs. These eggs went just about everywhere with us. To the street outside our canceled Air BnB, to the park across the street, to KFC, then to the hotel. The eggs served as a comic relief for the whole situation. We joked about breaking them, got odd stares for carrying them around, and our drives always commented on them. Our time in Malaysia has been quite the scrabble so far, but we are looking forward to an eggcellent time!
