Prayer walks.
They might seem silly or a time filler; but wow, that is not true at all!!!
God moved on Sunday January 20th during a prayer walk. Shoot. He really moved!!!
On Sundays here at City of Refuge we have a optional prayer walk time before church. We typically walk and pray in our heads or if we feel called to we pray out loud as we walk. We pray for the community, the church service, people we run into, situations we see, and sometimes really random things! Last week I prayed over a women’s restaurant because I saw it and felt compelled to pray.
This week was different. We had little direction and just went on our own without a leader. I had just walked the same route the day before so I knew the way pretty well, it was just a straight line…
We walked down and when it came time to turn around we crossed the street so we could be on the other side, I had never walked on this side of the street. I don’t think any of us had. We walked a few feet and then Shelby doubled over and Andrew put his hand on his head. My heart was also beating quickly, but it had been for the whole prayer walk. Immediately we all paused. Shelby said she felt a darkness and Andrew said he felt a weirdness in his head. We looked and John read the sign and it read psychic.
We stood for a few seconds just in awe of the Spirit’s physical ability to stop of us. Then we decided to pray and Joseph stated that we needed to pray in front of the building to show that we weren’t afraid.
We began praying and seriously, its tough to put into words how powerful our circle felt. I decided to keep my eyes closed because it helps me to focus and others were keeping their eyes open for our group. As Shelby was praying against the evil in that building she also asked God to shine His light on us and the clouds parted! While someone else was praying I felt my stomach flip. A second later Shelby pulled me forward and it made me open my eyes, when I did I saw a hand right over my right shoulder. It was a man who was reaching to push the buzzer for the psychic, which was right next to me. The feeling in my stomach did not go away and I felt such a burden for the man. As soon as I was able to pray I prayed for protection over the man and his mind to be protected. I prayed that wherever he was going into that building for that he would have discernment and that God would be with him. When I was done praying my stomach settled immediately.
On our way back to the church Tabitha told us she felt a burden to pray for someone we had passed before. We decided if she was still there then we would pray. We saw the group of women and asked if we could pray for her and she allowed us to pray for her. After we also asked if she needed healing in anyway and she allowed us to pray for her leg and she told us it felt a little better afterward with a big smile on her face! A women behind us wanted to know where we were going and there wasn’t much time left so we just invited her to come with us and she came to church with us. She met Valerie in the church and Valerie was able to tell her all about why we were in Colombia. She left before church began because her mother was waiting for her to go to their church. It wasn’t until this moment when she left that my heart started to settle. God had my heart beating quickly from the beginning of the prayer walk until it ended, which was not when we stopped walking, but when the women left the church.
All of those powerful moments occurred within one hour! Its crazy how much Holy Spirit moves when we tune into what He has to say!
I hope this story was encouraging to all of you!
Thank you for all for your thoughts and prayers!
