Hello everyone! I have been getting a lot of questions regarding where I will be traveling during the 9 month Gap Year! I have been hesitant to share where I will be going because routes can be switched around last minute or even while I’m on the trip. BUT I’ve decided to share which countries I most likely will be traveling to with you guys anyway! (Even if routes get switched around I will still be traveling to 5 countries regardless.)

When I applied there were 6 routes to choose from and each route had 5 countries on 3 different continents. I looked over the routes with my mom and dad the same day they were announced and then I applied that night. My decision was made quickly because I was just so excited and didn’t want to waste time to apply. I chose route 6, which in my opinion is the most diverse route among those listed. The variety of missions opportunities available and cultural differences between the countries are so diverse and that’s what drew me to it almost immediately.

The countries I have been accepted too are… MALAWI, ZAMBIA, MONGOLIA, ECUADOR, AND CHINA. I COULDN’T BE MORE EXCITED!!

Malawi, located in the south eastern part of Africa, is filled with HIV/AIDS and 70% of all Malawi’s hospital beds are occupied by people suffering from the disease. This sad epidemic has caused overcrowding in orphanages, a lack of workers to harvest food, and a country that has lost hope. Malawi is also the poorest country on earth.

Zambia, located in south central Africa near Malawi, suffers from poverty, short life expectancy, malnourishment, lack of clean water, and the AIDS crisis. The country needs help and hope.

Mongolia, located in Asia just north of China and south of eastern Russia, is the most sparsely populated country in the world. 30% of the country is nomadic. The capital is home to almost half of the countries population. The people of Mongolia are highly independent as they live and travel throughout the land. The majority of them are either non-religious or Tibetan Buddhist.

Ecuador is on the eastern shore of South America along the equator. It is filled with natural beauty containing the home to the Amazon River and the Andean glacial volcanoes. Most of the country lives at or below the poverty line. Even though Ecuador is beautiful and breathtaking with its indigenous and Incan influences, it also is in dire need of hope.

China is a country many wouldn’t think to go to as a missionary. While China has grown leaps and bounds industrially, intellectually, and economically, it’s still a very politically closed nation. If you travel through China you will meet many Buddhists, Muslims, and Taoists but very few Christians. The underground church in China is growing and even thriving amidst the persecution.

Throughout the World Race Gap Year, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
