Have you ever been with someone and when you walked away you just knew something was different?
Just think about it for a minute.
Last night, THAT happened. I had been so caught up in all of the things going on in my life I was trying to control, that it came as a wave of emotion. Weird right? I know.
As I sat with some friends and a friends mom, it felt somewhat different. Life literally just stopped. My worries and my fears..they were gone, just like that.
WHAT? HOW? Did that really just happen?
I kept thinking, “God I’m just hanging out with friends but what’s so different about tonight than any other?” And then it happened.
Her smile. Her laugh. Her presence. That was it.
Words from her daughter, “she literally radiates Him without even trying.” Wow. Smack to the face, but so humbling all at the same time. All she has is Jesus..what else does she need?
This mom I’m talking about.. she is so IN LOVE with Christ that you can feel Him when you look at her, when you talk to her, and when she smiles. You would never guess that she’s sick. You would never guess that her daughter has to translate for her, so we can understand her better. Also, that people have to be with her 24/7.
Honestly, none of that matters because of this one thing.
SHE RADIATES THE LORD WITHOUT EVEN TRYING!!!!
WOAH!! I want that!!! I want to be just like her…I really do! (She’s pretty awesome)
Actually, I want to be like Jesus. I want love like it’s going out of style. I want to have open arms to anyone who I come in contact with. I want to show mercy and grace just as He shows me every day. I want my heart to break for the exact things that breaks His. For my eyes to be open to the endless amount of possibilities for me to serve others in love.
Ephesians 5:2 says “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (ESV)
Hebrews 1:3 says, “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high…” (ESV)
God wants us to be imitators of His son. We all have someone who we look up to and want to be like. So why not let that person be Jesus?
The truth is..we can both sit here and read this and say, “yeah I want that!!” But words don’t matter until we get up and do these things. He’s waiting for us to start right NOW!!
So what are you waiting for? What’s holding you back?
