There we were, Danielle and I sitting among 15 or so Bolivian women celebrating the birthday of our host home sister-in-law.

This night perfectly painted the picture of when Jesus was gathered around a table and having fellowship with the disciples. They ate together, prayed together, and laughed about life together.

This is what we got to experience, although there was a language barrier. They couldn’t understand us and we had a hard time understanding their fast speaking Spanish. That was until one lady walked in and she was so full of life! She sat down right next to Danielle and I. She told us she had lived in Houston for two years and said “I can’t understand Texans!” We laughed and told her I was from Texas and she got the biggest grin and we laughed some more.

[[It’s true you know, that LOVE needs NO translation]]

This came alive that night and it was so beautiful to watch! The room was never silent and always full of laughter! Even when they asked if I was married or engaged! Yes, you can laugh because I sure did!

This question had me literally leaning over Danielle’s lap telling Mariso (the lady who lived in Houston) about my ring that says “Be Still.” She asked when I made that commitment. I looked at Danielle like uh what do I say? I said a fast prayer asking God to speak through me because I didn’t want them to be my words but His.

After telling her a small part of my story and how God brought me out of darkness and that I now walk in freedom! She had tears in her eyes the entire time and said I am proud of you, congratulations! She then had everyone stop talking and translated what I had just told her in Spanish so they all could understand and hear my story.

Wow!! What a humbling and beautiful moment!!

I don’t know why she did that or felt compelled to do so but I know God had His hand over those conversations!!

That’s where Jesus wants us! He wants us around the table doing life together and tonight Danielle and I got a glimpse of what that looks like among different cultures. Yes, it was hard not being able to understand but oh my it was the most beautiful thing! They welcomed us with open arms and full of love and laughter!

What a perfect way to start off our time here in Bolivia!

Please be in prayer for our team and squad as well! I know a few of us are still adjusting to the altitude!! Pray that the language barrier continues to be broken and Gods love shines through all that we do!!
