Today we toured the Buddhist temples in and around Bangkok. It was a good to see the reality of how much Buddhism is grounded in the Thai culture. It was a hot hot hot and sweaty day. In the pictures where you see me in Bangkok be guaranteed that I am melting in this heat. We said that white people melt in Botswana but they turn to slush here in Thailand.

Finding a little refreshment with a Thai treat – Coke in a bag!

It was tough today seeing these people not only from Thailand but other Asian countries worship, pay homage and honor a god that is false. This culture is completely ingrained with Buddhism and the beliefs that come along with it. Thailand is called the land of smiles but on the inside people are dying and overwhelmed with the need to complete “good deeds” for merit in their faith. I was overwhelmed with the reality of how many people are deceived and dying because the devil has lied to them and used “religion” to mask his lies. Please pray for the people of Thailand that God will turn their hearts towards Him.

Check out my squadmate Jessie Pace’s blog and it will give you a good overall description of Thailand and the culture.

Psalm 115:1-8

This is the reclining buddha at the Wat Po temple (The picture doesn’t express how HUGE this statue is! – It is 46 Meters long so that is 151.8 feet long!)

You can see the mass size of this statue

“To be Thai is to be Buddhist” is a common quote here as you can see…

The statues at the Wat Arun Temple – below the statues peoples ashes have been buried.  There are pictures that line it noting who they are.
