One of the ministries we undertook in Muan, Botswana was the “Market Ministry”.
We sent teams out into the city to the market that lined the streets and the alleys.
There were hundreds of little stands who sold items from purses, jewelry, food, fruit, clothes, etc…
We prayed as we walked that the Lord would guide our steps and give us words to say and receptive hearts to hear.
As we were leaving the ministry that day I walked by a stand where a woman was selling just oranges, spinach and mobile phone minutes.
What caught my eye is that she was reading and reading an English book.
We chatted and I found out her name is Maggie.
We talked about reading, cooking, church, etc…
I loved her sweet spirit and joy even when working at a job that doesn’t offer much reward.
Every other time I went to the market I would always go by and see her and make an effort to encourage her to go to church (she said she couldn’t afford the combi ride).
We spoke about Jesus often and I pray the Lord will use those words and that time to bring her closer to Him.
On our last day in Muan I collected some English magazines that we had finished reading and one of the Bibles I brought with me.
I prayed as I entered town and contemplated if I should give her one of my Bibles or buy her a Bible at the bookstore.
I stopped by her stall and gave her the magazines and the Bible and soap and she started to cry!
  She was so excited.
It wasn’t even anything huge in my eyes but I was able to put the Word of God in her hands and what a blessing I received by seeing her so excited.
As I look back it wasn’t even my decision to give her the Bible it just “happened” (obviously by the leading and prompting of the Holy Spirit) and I was the one truly blessed by her and her friendship.
I will continue to pray for her and Lord willing we will meet again in Heaven with our great and merciful savior Jesus Christ.
