After spending about 1/2 of the day preparing the packets for the Chinese Tourists we spend the evening giving out God’s word on a pier in Thailand. The tourist take the pier down to these boats that serve dinner. One of the boats is for the Chinese only! The tourist come off of the boat in 3 waves. The waves are after they have completed dinner and a show and thus far we have seen hundreds of Chinese coming down the pier. We were told that you will never forget the first bible that you give away and it is so true! In the first wave, I was stationed at the last stand of bibles (see video and it will explain). This man had walked away and came speaking to me in Mandarin and motioning with his hands for a bible! I have no idea what he was saying but for whatever reason God chose me and allowed me to place His precious Word in this man’s hands.
The night was filled with many of these stories from each one of us. Another time a woman came up to me and said, “You have a song (bible I am guessing?) I need a song!” I was able to point her towards the group giving out bibles. Then another young Chinese woman walked up to me and said, “I am a Christian and I need a bible”. There are no words to describe the privilege it was to meet that need. As a Christian and sharing your faith particularly overseas it seems that the language barrier gets in the way or you don’t get to see much fruit. But with this ministry we see the joy and excitement on their faces when the Holy Scriptures are placed in their hands. What a privilege we have been given! One more story before you watch the video. When handing out bibles a young Taiwanese girl walked by and motioned to me and whispered, “I am a Christian too!” and gave us a thumbs up! It was such an encouragement. This ministry is amazing and we have been blessed beyond words to work with Southern Cross Project.
PS… We have had the privilege for 3 weeks now to work with Southern Cross Project in handing out bibles in Thailand. We have been privileged to put into the hands of the Chinese tourist 940 Bibles! Praise the Lord! By statistics we see that they share the VCD (dvd’s in Asia) with an average of 10 people. That means that 9,400 people will be effected by the Word of God through just these 3 days of ministry! That is amazing! Please pray that the recipients of the Word will not leave it here in Thailand or on the plane but take it home and read it. Pray that the Holy Spirit will work on their hearts and that they will be lead to salvation and a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Check out my teammate Brady Denger’s Blog for the video! It is amazing and you can see little bits of me too! Enjoy…
