Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we go out to the bars and meet the bar girls and invite them to the English class at the Tamar Center.  We normally only spend about 30-45 minutes in the bars speaking to the women, giving them tracks and books and inviting them to the class.  This week was no different but the Lord worked things out in an unexpected way this week.

I was in the bar this week with Pe Fan (Pe b/c she is older than me and Fan pronounced “fawn”) and we were speaking to a girl who had just been in the bar for one week.  She spoke English a little but she was not very eager to make conversation.  I noticed as we were sitting at the bar there was a bar girl and a western man to the left of me.  He was kissing her and holding her and saying sweet things and it looked like he was going to buy her out for the night.  It was strange from my perspective because I have never seen this happen before.  We have been praying that the Lord will give us a heart for these women and help us understand what they are going through.  Well, He has!  It was almost as if I felt what she felt.  I felt the emotions of the hope that he may love her and take care of her.  It was as if I was hoping that someone would love me and take care of me.  It was a strange to know what she must be feeling.  In the end he ended up leaving without her and going on to another bar.  It was very sad, knowing that her needs will never be met by men or money but by Jesus Christ alone.  Now I can relate to what these women experience every day hoping beyond hope that someone will love them and take care of them.

Praise the Lord that I have the hope and assurance that Jesus Christ loves and takes care of me.  We ALL need that hope and assurance that our salvation and desires will be met by our great savior Jesus Christ.

When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
